Title: offset low-mount exhaust brackets???
Post by: BK_856er on January 25, 2009, 09:10:45 AM
My '07 M695 with low-mount pipes uses different offset brackets on the R/L side for the exhaust/rearset attachment point.

This was apparently done to accomodate the rear-mounted charcoal cannister.  The right side uses ~10mm aluminum discs to create the offset between the frame/motor and the factory rearset.

I'm installing some Rizoma aftermarket rearsets and I want to get rid of the aluminum spacers so everything is symmetrical on both sides of the bike.  Without the spacers, the rearset exhaust support is on the wrong side of the exhaust bracket.  If the exhaust bracket on the R side were offset inboard just like the L side, all would be well.

I'm running carbon Termis now, but the situation was identical with the original aluminum pipes.

Anyone know what bracket I can use that'll allow me to ditch the spacers?

I was able to make the existing exhaust bracket work.  First I loosened the exhaust fittings and lubed them with high-temp copper antisieze to make 'em floppy, loosened the bracket on the muffler, and carefully tightened things up with muffler bracket on the inside where I wanted it.  There is just enough flexibility and tolerance to get it to work without undue stress on the exhaust manifold/welds.  The bracket still wants to be on the outside of the thick black anodized support, but it's all working out.  About 500 miles so far and all is good.
