instead of the allen key style drain plugs anyone use the hex head style that uses a normal socket wrench to undo?
is it a drop in replacement?
if so which brand did you get?
does it use the oem crush washer size?
Do you like it?
thanks. i'm considering getting one but want to know people's opinion.
I got mine from Moto Wheels (sponsor).
Fits as original.
Has a built in o-ring, no crush washer necessary (wondering about longevity).
I like it so far.
The OEM allen key bolt is slightly tapered and has a tendency to round out because the allen key doesn't seat very well. I think it'd be a great idea to swap that out on your next oil change. [thumbsup]
got mine on ebay, uses the same crush washer (yes it just threads right in exactly like the stocker). You have to glue the magnets in (get some good epoxy, not your household glue) but thats about it.
Looks great and oil changes are a bit simpler, safety wiring is a lot easier (I'm paranoid)

Any brand works tons better than OEM, I use them on all (most) bikes.
thansk for posting the pic, finally now i can see what the K&N filter looks like in the bike looks liek a nice setup with the safety wiring and such.
glad to see the filter does not hit the header, think i'll use that one so that i don't need to buy a filter wrench.
If you can't wait to order a drain plug and need it ASAP, a 5.9L Cummins that is used in Dodge trucks have the same thread as Ducati (M22x1.5). This can be found at most auto part stores.
If you are just plain cheap, Advance Auto parts sells an M22x1.5 drain plug for $2. Look for part number 65223. The picture on their website is not correct as this is an ordinary drain plug without a magnet. It works great in my M600.
Anyone have any sources for those crush washers? Can you reuse an old one?
EDIT:
Nevermind... Dealer's got em for $.49 each...
Plus $1 for a stamp & envelope...
I will be getting one ASAP.
