Title: Anyone have a VDSTS Cable Lying around ?
Post by: EEL on January 27, 2009, 01:48:38 PM
I'm thinking about making my own VDSTS diagnostic cable and I need to look at an existing one to reference it. Obviously need a ducati cable for a magneti marelli 5.9M ECU. I just need to use a multimeter to figure out where the leads are going. I promise no harm will come to your property.

Total time required probably about an hour. I can stop by. I'm in South San Jose. If I get it working right it will turn into a HOW TO on this site with many thanks going to you.

No, we still don't. You want one so bad, go buy one.

What's the matter with your bike anyways?

Because if it starts and runs right, take my word on this, don't make the beast with two backs with it.

Uh..I dont remember requesting opinons (it would be much appreciated if you can keep those to yourself)...just a cable..

But to answer your question, there's nothing wrong with my bike. It been starting up fine for the last 18k. Just routine maintenance. This is just a side project. I like to keep myself occupied with something or the other.

Dont worry, I'll figure it out soon enough, with or without the cable. Just a matter of how long it takes. I actually think I can improve on the design and completely get rid of the DB9 serial interface and go straight to USB (much much faster and safer). I've got some parts on order right now. Total cost for the cable (hopefully it works) should be 15 bucks.

I may have access to one.

But you can't borrow it as I don't trust software pirates  [laugh]

The particular horse has been beaten to death elsewhere, so I'm not going to dive in yet again  [roll]
