quatro of course..
anyone have any experience?
opnions?
I like Audi/VW. I like the A3, it's just not for me. Too small...
The s/o loves this car. I like it. It would be perfect for the both of us, a small dog and eventually a baby.
I actually like the 2 door over the 4-door.
I think 'Tini has one.
I looked at one the year the came to the US. I liked driving it, I was just afraid of the reliability.
2006 & 2007 get an 'average' rating in Consume Reports - but they score above average or good in almost category, so I am surprised it only got an average.
mitt
they don't sell the 2 door in the USA
we rented one in Portugal, it was awesome. it had a 2.0 TDI (diesel) engine though, which they also don't sell in the US, I think we got about 50 mpg..
very nice car.
i had one of those as a loaner for a couple of days while my a4 was getting fixed up, and we rented one for 2 weeks in ireland.
the a3 little rocket [evil]
and you're right on about the quattro...
..who would buy an audi without it?
also... don't be deceived about it being small... the cargo area is bigger in this car than in my a4.

They sell the 2.0 TDI here, just not in this car...

that was a downer for me too. I liked the 2dr A3s when I lived in France, '03 & '04:

No, they don't. My neighbor has one. He's from Mexico. He's zipped by me a few times on the highway. Looks like a fun car!
huh,....
i would like the 2 door with the TDI i think.
thanks for the opinions. my dad has had an A4 for a bunch of years. he has never complained about any axcessive issues with it.

yeah, for 2010, but no quattro, only fwd.. :-/
basically it's an Audi Golf
however, the really nice thing about the new TDIs is the boffo tax credit you get from Uncle Sam
oh, and one other thing so you're not surprised... if something does break, it's a tad expensive to fix.

that would be a deal killer.
dont get me wrong, i like the audi line up, but the quattro is the selling point for me. [bang]
i just went to Audi UK and built my A3.
at the current exchange rate, it came in just under 33k
never ceases to amaze me...........for non us models, there are so many more choices (fabric seats, engine/transmission combos)
dammit!

I really like our GTI and it's great in the snow, however the 2.0T would be so much better as AWD. I bet it'd shave a half second of it's 0-60 and quarter mile times as even with sticky tires, there's just too much grunt down low to hook up properly with just the front wheels.
Same thing would have to apply to it's cousin with the 5k facelift, the A3.
I think the A3's are great cars I've on seen a few common problems with them and they would all be covered under warranty. The newer 2.0t is a really nice engine and you could always go for the 3.6FSI V6. The 3.6 A3's float. Of course the quattro is awesome and the DSG transmissions are very fun and shift like a manual.
For '09 the A3 is available as a four or a six, both are available in Quatro. My too concerns with the A3 in the US would be dealer quality and the lack of sales in the US. I do wish Audi would follow Subaru's lead and only make all wheel drive.
I guess I have been fortunate. I have had good luck with the quality as well as the number of VW dealers near by...
