Title: Looking to buy just the DP ECU for 08S2R1k, any suggestions? Post by: army_intel on January 29, 2009, 06:07:33 PM Looking around it seems like Omaha Ducati might be the only ones that could sell it to me just the ECU itself. Going to call them in the morning unless anyone else has a better idea.

He ran it with full Zards & an open lid & he still needed a Power Commander as it was quite lean in the midrange. 15/1 IIRC. His dyno is here somewhere. If it were me I'd spend my money on a Nemisis ECU....... much more adjustable & you can use it on different bikes. The first thing though is to find a good local tuner & see what he supports ..... I bought an Ultimap ECU & the thing could be amazing but it seems there's nobody west of Minnesota who will tune it [laugh] Title: Re: Looking to buy just the DP ECU for 08S2R1k, any suggestions? Post by: booger on January 29, 2009, 08:05:10 PM I have the DP ECU + airbox on my bike, along with a 43 tooth rear, and can't tell that it has any more oomph from when I was running the stock ECU and exhaust w/ partially cored cans. Smoothed it out in town and balanced the fuel/air mix is all I can see that it did. Of course I am choosing to run the stock exhaust w/ partially cored cans and QD midpipe. The Termis are still in the box. If you get a DP ECU make sure that whoever installs it doesn't marry it with the bike, so you can refit the stocker and sell it seperately when you sell the bike. Big market for just the ECUs.
Alternatively, you could have your stock ECU flashed to DP spec for $400 or so, I think monstermash? has the details. Title: Re: Looking to buy just the DP ECU for 08S2R1k, any suggestions? Post by: army_intel on January 29, 2009, 08:31:56 PM I know i can get it reflashed, but I want to pay the extra money and get the DP ECU so my warranty isnt voided and I can still take it to the dealer should something make the beast with two backs up. I am running the DP intake and Motocreations Boomtubes.

Post by: Gus Duc on January 29, 2009, 08:42:38 PM Since you're running the Boom tubes I'd pick up a used stock ECU & have that one remapped & then dyno it & send it back to Tom to get it refined. I see them on Ebay all the time & since Tom can turn off the immobilizer you'll be good to go [thumbsup]
Either way you'll need some tuning to maximize your setup as your pipes are very unique. Title: Re: Looking to buy just the DP ECU for 08S2R1k, any suggestions? I noticed some improvement with just the ECU, but the addition of the PCIII really brought the engine to life, making a significant improvement from 3k rpms up to about 6k rpms. I see the DP ECU as a PCIII enabler. How widespread is support for the Nemesis? I'm not knocking the product, I'm sure it works great, but you still gotta find someone local that knows how to tune it. That is the nice thing about the PCIII, you can get the thing tuned just about anywhere. Title: Re: Looking to buy just the DP ECU for 08S2R1k, any suggestions? I wonder how practical that would be. Seems like a trial and error approach that might take a few iterations to converge on a good map. Post by: Raux on January 29, 2009, 11:24:50 PM maybe the two guys could work together to get you a map that works with what you have. i mean motocreations i'm sure would be able to assist [bow_down]

Seems like a trial and error approach that might take a few iterations to converge on a good map. i figure they would look at the dyno map, see where it needs to be smoothen out, and fix accordingly, though ideally, you wanna adjust, dyno, adjust, dyno adjust. Would be pretty good on the first run though. Its still much better than running a stock DP ECU map. |
