Title: 1100s
Post by: amcloud on January 30, 2009, 11:24:53 PM
So, I decided to upgrade to the 696's big brother yesterday...the white 1100s.  For all of you who are contemplating the upgrade, go for it, it was worth every penny.  The new bike has an unbelievable power curve and delivery, handles great with the Ohlins suspension, and the SSS looks sick.  The bike is definitely a lot more than the 696 with a bigger motor.  I can't wait to get it broken in so I can really see what it can do.

Congrats! You've encouraged me to come out and tell everyone I did the samething! I've kept it quiet because I know some people think I made this leap too fast, but I'm loving my red 1100S! Okay, I won't jump this thread. Please post pix!

Congrats!  I would enjoy hearing more of a comparison between the jump from the 696 to the 1100 from either amcloud or sfarchie.  I love the flickability of my 696, and wonder if the 1100 is similar in handling with more power...

You too, my plan all along was to upgrade to the 1100s, but I have to still save for about another year. I'm really envious now!

Congratulations guys!  [clap]

My plan was to save a year or so to upgrade as well...until a very considerate drunk mexican rear-ended me.  He was so considerate, he fled the scene to provide entertainment for some fellow motorcycle riders to chase him down and call the cops.  Long story short, the volvo I was driving saved my life (he rear-ended me at a stoplight going 70) and he bought me a replacement car, a new monster, and several weeks physical therapy.  On the bright side, the 696 seems to resell quickly...posted Wednesday, sold Friday.

I got it last night...they are gone now, just not when I took the pictures.

next comes:

levers
clutch cover / pressure plate / ss springs
exhaust as soon as a few more options come out.  I had termis on my last one but thinking of maybe trying something different.  Any suggestions?

I'm going to do the exact same thing as you. I can only think of one bike better than my 696 and thats the 1100s in white. Termis going on immediately. Only thing I want is to swap the white plastic for my black 696.

Congrats! How's that dry clutch?

It's not as forgiving as the wet slipper on the 696, but I rev matched on bikes before the 696 so it wasn't a big change for me.  The clutch engages a lot sooner than on the 696 but that only took a few minutes to get used to.  I can't wait to put an open clutch cover and new pressure plate on it though.  The power delivery and suspension/handling are the biggest most noticeable improvements.  I have only had the bike for a day and ~100 miles, but so far I have no complaints...the 1100s is superior to the 696 in every way.

when im due for an upgrade... i was considering either a s4rs or a m1100s... i love the classic styling and more power from the s4rs but i like how the m1100s is aircooled.

Either way, i would get a white tank with a red frame.  thats the only requirement for sure.

I don't want to jump the OPs thread, but since Spidey asked...BTW, I rode it to Zeitgeist Thursday. I just didn't advertise I got it. Still stock for now. But will put my CRG LS mirrors on soon. The stock ones vibrate way too much!

I'm dumb. Posted 2 of the same pix. Too lazy to delete it. This was the 3rd angle I wanted to post. Oh, I also took off the bikini fairing. It's cool that the 1100S comes with 2 covers (bikini fairing and the one that just covers the back).

Great looking bikes.  I'd love to upgrade my S2R, but there's that nagging little problem w/ not enough dinero at the moment.  It'll have to wait until next year.   Congrats!!!!

I'm begining to think that Spidey's lack of trust in some of us newer members that he should contemplate changing his name to "Doubting Thomas"  ;) ;)

Don't mind at all! Thanks, that actually looks kinda cool!

Does Arrow make a kit yet?  Or better yet boom tubes.

Also, unless you have intentions on riding 2 up you need to get rid of the hideous stock rearsets. Duc Pond fabbed up a set for the challenge that IMHO made a huge difference framing up the rear wheel.

Wow, that red subframe looks great!!  I'm sure someone will do this soon.

I really like the look of the new 1100.   [moto]

...but it does need a round headlight.
