The smallest available will work most like stock, and should be fine for a wet clutch. The larger the piston, the longer the friction zone, and lighter the pull. Those are best for dry lutches. And isn't it the larger the bore, the lighter the pull? Or something like that. Safe bet is buy through one of our sponsors. They know proper fitment. I'm not sure if any of the larger slave cylinders will reduce the lever effort by much on the wet clutches. It probably will reduce the leak issues though.
On our 1098 project, the 30mm STM (http://www.motowheels.com/italian/myproducts.cfm?parentcategoryid=442%7CDucati&productID=4295&showDetail=1&categoryID=502|Clutch%20Slave%20Cylinders&vendoridtodisplay=0&filterFor=&collection=168%7CEuropean%20Motorcycle%20Parts) reduced the lever pull effort by about 30%. We then swapped out the 30mm STM with a 29mm Oberon slave cylinder (http://www.motowheels.com/italian/myproducts.cfm?parentcategoryid=442%7CDucati&productID=6677&showDetail=1&categoryID=502|Clutch%20Slave%20Cylinders&vendoridtodisplay=0&filterFor=&collection=168%7CEuropean%20Motorcycle%20Parts) on our 1098. If that's your main goal, go with the 30mm. Since the 696 already has a one-finger clutch pull, you're not likely to notice much difference on that bike when you change the slave, though the billet aftermarket piece will last longer and look nicer. On your S2R 800, if lightening the clutch pull effort is your main goal, go for the 30mm unit.
