Title: Coffin-style master cylinders to fit an S4 Post by: mattb on January 31, 2009, 03:03:31 PM Can anyone recommend a decent set of clutch/brake master cylinders that I could swap in on my S4?
Pics appreciated -- I'm getting sick of looking at those two fluid cups with the erector set pieces holding them up ;) thx Matt Title: Re: Coffin-style master cylinders to fit an S4 Post by: BK_856er on February 01, 2009, 01:19:27 AM You could do the Brembo coffin masters/levers from Yoyodyne. You'd want the larger 16mm piston type for the brakes. Should be able to keep your current lines. About $100 per side with levers. Very economical.
Alternatively, with a much bigger budget you could do the Brembo 749/999 style with integrated reservoirs, or the Beringer billet coffin type masters. Both of those options probably will require new custom lines, but performance would be a step up. And, you could probably make a little extra $ out of it.
I'm sure if you ask, someone will bite. Title: Re: Coffin-style master cylinders to fit an S4 Post by: mxwinky on February 02, 2009, 10:00:55 AM I'd definitely consider swapping my 900SS coffin-styles for your S4 items, provided your brake master is the radial mount style.

And they're radial. Edit: You might need new lines though. It's also sporting a bleeder banjo fitting and CRG levers.
Not as purdy as Spidey's setup - damn that's a sweet ride [thumbsup] OP didn't state the year S4, but if the outlet of the current MC is oriented like this one (non-radial) new lines shouldn't be required. OEM bar might be alright, I don't have an OEM bar in my possession, so I can't verify. AFAIK my Cycle Cats would need a spacer to be able to run coffins. Other clip-ons, dunno.
