Title: New SA Monster Owner Post by: OstOgBajer on February 01, 2009, 05:29:50 PM Hey all. Name's Brian. Started riding a couple months ago and got a new white 696 as a x-mas present for myself. Just thought I'd pop in and introduce myself and meet some fellow Duc riders here in San Antonio.
Just put 500 miles on the 696 and i've already got the itch to personalize it. I have the CW fender eliminator, removed the bikini fairing and yanked off that horrible carbon canister. I have a Barracuda belly pan on the way and looking at the Mivv Suono slip-ons. Also plan on powder coating a lot of the silver parts of this bike black. Considering the 14t front sprocket too. I've done a lot of lurking for info and advice and this seems like a pretty cool board, so I just may stick around [thumbsup] Title: Re: New SA Monster Owner Post by: Porsche Monkey on February 02, 2009, 08:24:54 AM Hey whats up Brian. Theres a couple of us here in San Antonio, glad to have you and welcome to the board. You'll have to catch a ride with us sometime. [thumbsup]

Title: Re: New SA Monster Owner Post by: Isabel on February 04, 2009, 05:12:32 PM She is beautiful. My little brother gave me his sportclassic to practice, but I've been looking at the same monster because it is lighter and more suitable for me.

I recently move to Houston, Tx to spend more time with my father. I'm also a new ducati rider. I now see why brother loves Ducatis because it is a fun motorbike to ride. I wished the roads are better here in Houston. Where is the best place to ride around town?
Title: Re: New SA Monster Owner Post by: Pedro-bot on February 04, 2009, 10:02:12 PM Very nice Brian! [thumbsup]
Welcome to both you and Isabel. The roads in the Houston metro area are pretty bland, straight and flat. :P There are some nice areas around the Houston area to ride in but you have to ride for a bit to get there, mostly to the North/Northwest of town. From time to time a few people here on the board post up meets for local rides. Just be aware that 3 different city riders post here, Austin (boo!) [cheeky] , San Antonio, and Houston. So pay special attention to that detail. [moto] Title: Re: New SA Monster Owner Post by: Porsche Monkey on February 05, 2009, 05:34:16 AM Ha Ha Ha, Austin sucks [evil]
Title: Re: New SA Monster Owner Post by: ducky on February 05, 2009, 09:09:37 AM Nice bike guys. What kind of SportsClassic? I've seen just a few of them around town.

Title: Re: New SA Monster Owner Post by: Gone Ape on February 05, 2009, 12:29:43 PM Hey Folks Osto & Isabel !!! Welcome to the nuthouse....
Pay no attention to Pedro-bot, he's never recovered from that strange hydraulic industrial accident a few years back!!! The roads out here in *AUSTIN & SAN ANTONIO* rock----Duc Country (well, and Aprilia too).....now that it's warming up, it's time for H-Town to head west..... Title: Re: New SA Monster Owner Post by: Isabel on February 05, 2009, 12:35:59 PM Nice bike guys. What kind of SportsClassic? I've seen just a few of them around town. I have the black Sports1000 and is tall and heavy. It is not my first choice but it was free when when my brother got two the same looking ducati racer bikes for christmas. I actually like my brother's motorbike better other than it is too load and too much power for me. So I'm going to buy a ducati monster soon once my father free more space in his garage and ships my brother's bike to Europe. Anyone here in Houston ride the race track? My father has a garage for his cars at one of the race track and he said it is available to use by appointment. Is there a motorcycle school in this area? cheers Title: Re: New SA Monster Owner Post by: El Matador on February 05, 2009, 01:03:13 PM I have the black Sports1000 and is tall and heavy. A lot of us do track days with several different trackday organizations. Some of them are: Ridesmart Texas Trackdays Lonestar trackday Where are you from Isabel? A few of us are going on saturday to Taco Milagro to celebrate one of our member's birthdays. You're invited if you wish to come. [thumbsup] Title: Re: New SA Monster Owner Post by: Isabel on February 06, 2009, 09:12:21 AM Thanks for the invite, but I'm going to Los Angeles for a few days.

A neighbor of mine has same bike as yours...we just rode out to Specht's last night w/our ladies. We're planning a breakfast ride here pretty soon if not this weekend. email me chrisws4@hotmail.com if you want to hook up since I don't check here often.
Title: Re: New SA Monster Owner Post by: OstOgBajer on February 20, 2009, 01:52:45 PM Thanks man. I'll probably wait a while though until I've got a little more experience under my belt. Don't want to go on a ride and slow other people down. Still learning to push my limits in the turns.
Title: Re: New SA Monster Owner Post by: Porsche Monkey on February 20, 2009, 02:02:36 PM Don't worry about stuff like that. I've ridden with all sorts of different skill levels and if someone is slower we just stop and regroup further down the road. If you keep pushing yourself to keep up with faster riders you will most certainly have problems. Generally I ride at a normal pace on the straights and highways and then if I lose someone in the corners I stop up ahead. Always ride at your own pace.
Title: Re: New SA Monster Owner Post by: OstOgBajer on February 20, 2009, 11:28:12 PM I don't mean I'm pushing myself unsafely to keep up with others... I'm just saying I'm still learning riding on my own (you can't learn without pushing limits slightly, otherwise you'd never advance. That's all I meant). But I hear you. I may try to find some people to ride with on occasion... it's just hard to find the time to go for a ride for the sake of going for a ride. If I have time on the weekends where I don't need to work or study, I usually have to pencil in a friend or family member... hell... I am going to have to hire a maid because I'm so burned out I don't want to take care of my house lol. Can't wait to get out of school [bang]
