Title: Fuel cap - post your favourite piece, please Post by: stopintime on February 03, 2009, 03:39:56 PM I don't need a new one, but I just might get one anyway.
Just for bling, oh wait... and easier gas filling stops = functionality = safety. That IS important, right 8) Which is your favourite? It was $100 and comes with a hose you run to the tank. Works awesome. Title: Re: Fuel cap - post your favourite piece, please Post by: corey on February 04, 2009, 08:15:44 AM You guys don't worry about people make the beast with two backsing with your fuel at all?
For some reason, that is really preventing me from getting rid of the one piece of gold on my bike... Which I think looks like SHIT against the Tangerine color of my S2R... Title: Re: Fuel cap - post your favourite piece, please Post by: MotoCreations on February 04, 2009, 09:21:48 AM Something I did @2.5years ago for fun one afternoon -- local customer upon visiting my fabrication shop purchased before it was even finished. (later polished to nearly chrome finish) Gascap popups and then can be unscrewed. Did another two iterations similiar for others. My favorite: currently testing a new design that has zero external attachment bolts. (pictures to be posted once we get the legal paperwork finished to protect the design) (http://www.motocreations.com/dmf/gascap.jpg) Title: Re: Fuel cap - post your favourite piece, please Post by: asado on February 04, 2009, 11:47:59 AM Oberon

I planned to buy the oberon but would love to see what you have come up with [thumbsup] Title: Re: Fuel cap - post your favourite piece, please Post by: Mojo S2R on February 04, 2009, 05:45:39 PM I've been looking at the OPP Carbon Fiber with locking cap, but may end up going with the new MotoCreations design [thumbsup]

Title: Re: Fuel cap - post your favourite piece, please Post by: DucHead on February 05, 2009, 04:47:59 AM Damn Mark your "pop-up" cap is not only beautiful, but a brilliant design!
Please send the next one of these caps directly to me. ;D (http://www.motocreations.com/dmf/gascap.jpg) Title: Re: Fuel cap - post your favourite piece, please Post by: DucHead on February 05, 2009, 04:56:56 AM BTW, I have the Oberon cap, but the red anodizing faded at the speed of light (pun intended):
(http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d147/pompino/DSCN2243.jpg) I suppose that having it powder-coated is my only choice for a long-lasting finish? Title: Re: Fuel cap - post your favourite piece, please Post by: sfarchie on February 05, 2009, 07:51:00 AM Okay, I'm gonna ask a real dumb question. These aftermarket caps don't have locks, so it's just a twist off, right?

Hope you don't have too many enemies. Haha! I guess I should be more careful about not making too many enemies. But since I also work in a crappy town, meybe not a good idea to get one. Title: Re: Fuel cap - post your favourite piece, please Post by: Popeye the Sailor on February 05, 2009, 01:07:52 PM I just figure that not many people would try to siphon gas from a bike, and if they really wanted to, the fuel lines are accessible anyways.
Title: Re: Fuel cap - post your favourite piece, please Post by: angler on February 05, 2009, 01:16:32 PM Right. And if they did, they would get at best $6 worth of gas.......
Title: Re: Fuel cap - post your favourite piece, please Post by: corey on February 05, 2009, 01:20:17 PM It's not so much somebody stealing my gas that I'm worried about, but rather putting something IN it... like sugar for instance...
Or some other wonderful substance designed to thoroughly destroy my motor... Title: Re: Fuel cap - post your favourite piece, please Post by: angler on February 05, 2009, 01:30:17 PM Man - how many enemies do you have? :o
Title: Re: Fuel cap - post your favourite piece, please Post by: erkishhorde on February 05, 2009, 03:31:36 PM I called the cops on my neighbors for partying the night before finals. Their bass was so loud that it shook my bed from 3 apartments away. The next day my bike was knocked over. >:(
Title: Re: Fuel cap - post your favourite piece, please Post by: Gimpy on February 05, 2009, 03:32:27 PM I feel the same way. My bike is rarely unattended and if it is, its either in my garage or in my patrolled work parking lot.
But............just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't after me! ;D That said I really like that MotoCreations cap. [thumbsup] I have to quit reading this forum its costing me too much money. :-\ Title: Re: Fuel cap - post your favourite piece, please Post by: Airborne on February 05, 2009, 05:27:15 PM It's not so much somebody stealing my gas that I'm worried about, but rather putting something IN it... like sugar for instance... People touching things, pressing buttons on the handle bars, the last thing I need to do is give joe schmo access to my gas tank. Title: Re: Fuel cap - post your favourite piece, please Post by: Mojo S2R on February 05, 2009, 06:19:53 PM Hey Motocreations. Any chance of doing that new design with a lock on it?
Title: Re: Fuel cap - post your favourite piece, please Post by: MotoCreations on February 05, 2009, 06:42:45 PM Hey Motocreations. Any chance of doing that new design with a lock on it? The one you see above and the newest one that is completely smooth -- no chance of lock integration at all. Most people have no clue on how to open them though! [thumbsup] Title: Re: Fuel cap - post your favourite piece, please Post by: Mojo S2R on February 05, 2009, 06:48:45 PM How much are those running? The one pictured and the new smooth one?

I bought it for bling, but now I like the operation better than the OEM cap.
