Title: Sin City
Post by: DoubleEagle on February 05, 2009, 12:16:07 AM
Sin City is one of Mickey Rourke's most dynamic, raw, ruthless all enthralling movies  I've seen him in.

Warning, the movie contains Female nudity, vile language, and some of the more clever and horrific torture and killing .

Many top Hollywood stars are in this movie and the Cinematography is so unique.      Dolph

If you haven't read the Frank Miller graphic novels, you should. You'll understand exactly where the cinematography style came from.

Same with "300."

300 was VERY bloody.  would have liked to watch it again to pay attention to the cinematography, but it was too bloody for me.  Isn't the same cinematographer the one from the Spirit?  Anyone see that?

I liked sin city - my wife and friends didn't.  Not sure if they saw the art in it.

Wow!  the comments are so negative.  Maybe I'll wait for the DVD.

I wanted to see it for the cinematography, not the plot.  but, if it's that bad, I may have to turn down the dialogue and play music.

My sister and I went to see The Spirit on Christmas Day. It was an abomination. That's 2 hrs of my life that I'll never get back. I was tempted to pull a South Park and track down the film makers to demand my money back.

Sin City was better (+1 on Jessica Alba)

Again, if you look at the graphic novels that these movies are based on, you'll see that the creative contribution of the cinematographers in all of these movies was very limited. Their story boards were already written out for them. I'd venture to say that 85-90% of shots in these films were lifted directly from their corresponding panel in the books. Yes, they had to figure out how to translate the image from the page to the screen, but things like color, lighting, framing, and even transitions were already laid out for them.

If you haven't at least looked at the books, but you liked the movies, you really owe it to yourself to do so.

Cinematography on "Sin City" was done by Roger Robert Rodriguez, and the final image he has produced is a land mark in modern cinematography.

fixed it for ya.

I saw the spirit. Wasn't terribly fond of it because the story didn't flow well. The only acting I liked in that movie was the girl that play young Sand Serif.

One of the things about Sin City that I can't necessarily say about other movies is, the next day after I watched the DVD I wasn't sure that it wasn't a strange dream I had !

I'm going to watch it again soon which I don't do very often .

Going to watch " Domino " tonight. The 1st time I watched it there was a skip on it and it stuck there .Have a different DVD copy.

Keira Knightley is very hot    [beer]     in this movie about Mickey , Keira and their sidekick are Bounty Hunters.    Dolph :)
