i was actually surprised to hear that he'd died given all the positive news being reported by the press the last day or so.

I just watched his complete final performance. He started off nailing the landings. Then, the 3rd and second to last jumps he landed a little long. There was only 10 sec left on the clock, and he went for 1 more, and landed way short and looked instantly in big trouble. Wonder if he had the last 2 landings on his mind.
These guys make huge flips look so easy, you forget how dangerous it is.
