This is how the cartalk guys got their start. They figured they'd just collect money. Eventually they got roped into helping people....then doing the whole job themselves.

Not saying it won't work, just that similar things have been tried.

Personally biggest issue I see is someone getting in over their head, breaking something, then having to pay the rental fee until it's sorted out. That can get expensive.

I was thinking something like this would be cool while I was at school since there are so many of us that like to work on our own stuff but when you're away at school almost nobody has a garage and your apartment lease almost always has something about not working on your vehicle in the parking lot. After thinking about it I realized it could get to be a real hassle checking to make sure you've got all your tools after someone is done.

Also that issue of getting in over your head and then having to rent the space until you sort it out could really suck. Imagine working on your Duc and then finding something broken or having not ordered a part that you needed on accident. Guess you'll be paying that rent fee for the next 2 weeks while you're waiting on that part unless you can pack it up and truck the bike home.  [roll]

I'm sure it's a great idea in an urban area with no garages, or one car garage.  Or yeah, apartment dwellers.

When I was changing my forks I needed a specific size socket that I couldn't buy individually, i had to buy a whole set for $40 that I'll never use but one of them.  Would've been nice in that instance.

And man I'd love to do oil changes on a lift.  I'm tired of crawling around on the floor.

If I had a dollar for everytime someone else came to a market with one of my business ideas before me...I'd have enough to actually fund one of them. :P
