Title: M1100 tail chop Post by: amcloud on February 12, 2009, 11:38:06 AM There are some websites that say the Competition Werkes tail chop fits the 696 and 1100, this is NOT true. The tail chop will not work on the M1100 because of the exhaust back-pressure solenoid valve. The tail chop relocates the lock to the mounting location of the solenoid. This was just a hole in the seat frame on the 696. I tore my tail apart and had to put it back together once I discovered this yesterday afternoon. Hopefully this saves someone else the time and frustration.

You just can't put the plate as far under the tail. The R&G doesn't obscure your turn signal from directly behind, tho.
Put the Comp Werkes up in the Parts for Sale section, there are plenty of 696 owners on here. More every day. Someone will buy it. UPDATE; I think I see the problem. I didn't run into this because I bought mine directly from CW. Some people are being sold a kit that is intended for the 696 for use on the 1100. CW sells one specifically for the 1100 http://secure.compwerkes.com/Detail.bok?no=447 (http://secure.compwerkes.com/Detail.bok?no=447) The 1100 kit relocates the lock to the rear of the solenoid. The included directions should have "09 Ducati Monster 1100" across the top of the page. R&G makes one specifically for the 1100 - I have it installed. Reasonably simple install once you figure out the best way to route the cable for the seat lock. If your supplier isn't specific just order it direct from R&G. Title: Re: M1100 tail chop Post by: bobbydoll on July 14, 2009, 03:48:47 AM i have the CW kit for the m1100. there was a glitch in the install -- they messed up in packing the included parts. i received 2 left side tail light brackets. very annoying to find that at the very end of a long install. CW sent me a replacement bracket fairly quickly (2 day wait).

After some pleading he agreed to sell me just the parts I needed to install the chop on my m1100... or so i thought... I had the parts express shipped for $25 and low and behold the damn thing still doesnt fit. Im very disapointed with the company and am not impressed at all with the quality of the kit.
Anyone have a link to the R&G kit? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Very good value and cheaper than R&G too. Good quality.

The quality of the CW kit is pretty weak. I just found my license plate light dangling by the wire cause the double stick tape gave out. As an LEO I'm sure you know that this gives the guys with the spinning lights a good reason to stop someone...at least here in Hawaii. So I'll be ordering a plate light from somewhere, paying some shipping, & getting rid of the junky one CW sent. I wish I'd known about the evotech set-up when I bought my eliminator.
