So it's pretty sweet....but going to take a little getting used to the tiny keys (with my Fatty McFat fingers). Most people buy these netbooks to supplement their main computers, but not me. No....my almighty Mac bit the dust on Monday, and it's going to cost more than this thing cost to get it fixed. The poor thing was 5 years old anyways, so I decided to move on, but I couldn't afford anything big. I decided to see if I could make it with the baby PC.
anyone else have a netbook? likes? dislikes?
I haven't decided if this was a good decision yet....
i thought about getting it to augment my 15.4 inch main laptop. however, my hands get cramped easily. and i have small skinny fingers too. I dont like the fact that i look like a granpa trying to type the words hello world on it. the arrow keys on most netbooks are too hard to use too. but if you use it for basic things it isnt bad at all , though i would of much perfered the 10" HP ones. the material feels much grippier and in turn its much more pleasent to use. anything below 9 inch is ust too small.
Anyway, i hope you like yours, the atom processor is really good on battery life, and the sucker is so convienent. But if you are a everyday computer user like me, i dont think youll be very happy. I went in between and got a 13.3 inch laptop with the works.
If you are good at computers, you should try runing ubuntu or xubuntu or some sort of linux based OS on it. it really frees up a lot of memory and it works much smoother. Xubuntu is very simple if all your doing is browsing and typing!
I've also been thinking about getting one. Costco has them on sale for $300.
Getting mine soon
still shopping around
it'll end up a hackintosh just like my viao ;D

Sounds like you have a lot of experience with this. ;D
I'm thinking of ubuntuing it, but I haven't decided yet.
I should say, this isn't my ONLY laptop...I also have a work computer. It's a dell and I'm not real fond of it, but since the Mac took a crap on it's self, it has started getting used more. The Acer will be mostly just for messing around on the internet at home...and for playing. Part of the reason I went with the acer is it was on sale (and the Asus EEEpc was out of stock everywhere I went) and because I've seen people doing alot of hacking on the Aspire. I've seen that it has been hacked to include a touchscreen. I never leave stuff alone, and this won't be left normal for too long.
The key board is going to take some getting used to, but the battery life is stellar!

NASTY NASTY NASTY NASTY!!!!! :-\
One of those things where you have to go back and say wow did i just say that? [laugh]
Lets try that again, the Sub 10" Netbooks has a huge border around it that makes the screen feel super cluttered.
Sorry buddy, I couldn't resist.
You can see some experiences here

I was on the fence buying one, but I might hold out for windows 7
mitt
did you get the Lynx version or the windows ?
lynx is cool has no moving parts ..use's a ic type hard drive
i did get one it was great but the screen was too small for my eyes .......ended up taking it back and getting the emachines netbook ..bigger screen
the acer is amazing with battery life as well ...you will be happy with it
I really like mine, but I couldn't use it as my only computer. I have small fingers (I'm a chick), so the petite keyboard wasn't a problem. I couldn't figure out how to disable the "hover" feature on the mousepad, and that drives me nuts. Also, some email programs have huge headers that take up the whole screen and that doesn't work too well with the little Acer. I bought it primarily because it fits well in a tankbag for traveling. Battery life is great. I think you'll enjoy it.
My son got a deal on one and gave it to his sister for Christmas - I almost passed out.
She likes it. Seems to surf the net well.

I bought one of these for my youngest daughter's birthday last month.

It's too small for me, personally. And, a bit low on RAM.
But she loves it. And it seems to be working perfectly fine so far.
Also, the amazon price is too high, I paid less than $250.00 at electronics express.

Are you comparing prices on 2 different models? The 7" vs 8.9" ? There are so many flavors of net books now, it is hard to compare apples. Even bestbuy has a slightly different 8.9" model than newegg for example.

No, the one shown in the link is the exact same thing i bought. Size, color, memory, everything's the same except the price.
I'm still liking it. We were running around geocaching today, so I plugged my EVDO card in and it was great in the car. So far, probably the most demanding program I've run on it has been Google Earth....did it just fine. I LOVE this little thing.....everything a portable should be IMO.
About the small keyboard.... When you really need to do a lot of typing just plug in a usb keyboard and mouse. You could even set up an external monitor.

Netbooks rule. I'm writing my thesis on a Dell Inspiron Mini - best computer I've had to date. :)
Got my Aspire One 10" today. So far I'm digging it.
