Title: Replacement speedo and Tacho ????
Post by: jerryz on February 15, 2009, 06:44:22 AM
OK whats out there ? who has fitted anything ? or found a way to fix? For S4 I will soon be needing a new Speedo and Tach as mine are almost opaque due to cracks, scrathes and crap perspex that fades in the sun...I will not contemplate the same rubbish Ducati/Veglia parts as new ones will be just as crap..repair would be best option opening them somehow and replacing perspex with glass as replacement has to be immobiliser friendly.
I like the look of the acewell units but I dont think they work with the Ducati immobiliser .

I know this thread has been fished before but its getting desperate now.

If you send your ECU off to Monstermash, he can re-flash it and disable the immobilizer, allowing you to use whatever gauges you want.

Or you could go the Spidey route and hide all of your immobilizer ECU stuff under the tank and run whatever other gauges you want off of them.

The reflash costs $550, but it allows you to disable both your immobilizer and your O2 sensor, as well as raising redline and programming the ECU to DP or other custom specs.

Did Mash say that?  AFAIK, the reflash will "re-set" the immobilizer on the ECU,  unmating it from the red key and dash.... You'll still need the guages to run the bike, with the immobilizer in them (ie: stock gauges).

That's a very good question. All he says is "immobilizer disable (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=15502.0)." I don't know to what extent it gets "disabled."

I have recently found out that the reflash will completely disable the immobilizer upon the customer's request.

Which means that you can now use aftermarket gauges on your bike without hiding the factory gauges somewhere!

Here's a setup I'm putting on my '95 M900.  Adaptable to any bike really.  MotoGadget is high quality stuff!  [thumbsup]

My S4 has no O2 sensor , Ideally getting rid of the immobiliser would be good , but hiding the bits is a nice idea , what parts in the old clocks are the immobiliser ?  If I could remove those bits i could repackage them in another hidden place.
The bike is in Thailand so sending bits to US is a bit of a problem but I go UK often.

I would like to get my hands on whatever is left of your gauges if you decide not to reuse them!

PM me and let me know!

I was considering that exact setup on my bike.  Looks really great.

However, I went with a Veypor VR2 because of the cool things that it can do.  I really like it a lot and would highly recommend one of them as well.  Though they aren't as realiable as the MotoGadget stuff.
