Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: be350ka on February 17, 2009, 07:19:17 PM If you are going with the red accents I would paint the Brembo label on your front calipers. Looking pretty good.
Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: ThelmaLou on February 17, 2009, 07:22:51 PM Looks tough! [thumbsup]
Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: Rambler1982 on February 17, 2009, 07:42:01 PM Some nice touches. I really like the stickers, I wonder how they would look on a pearl white 696.
Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: NWapex on February 17, 2009, 08:07:21 PM I likey [thumbsup]. The removal of the heat shields makes a nice difference.

Looking pretty good. You're right, I think I will do that. Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: Raux on February 17, 2009, 09:15:15 PM You're right, I think I will do that. i used red enamel paint and a q-tip to do mine. Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: monstermania on February 17, 2009, 10:02:11 PM i used red enamel paint and a q-tip to do mine. Sounds good, I'll try that. Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: Smokescreen on February 17, 2009, 10:24:41 PM I was perplexed looking at the sticker running up the center of the tank... I couldn't figure out why anyone would put "COCSTER" on their bike... I mean, that's a little perverted!
So I say to myself, why would he put a sticker like that on his monster? Hmm.... Monster.... COCSTER.... I should look again at that sticker. Maybe it doesn't say what I think it says.... Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: duclvr on February 18, 2009, 12:39:52 AM Looking good.

I still cant get used to painted rear sets either. Nice scheme going on though. Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: w7ck7d on February 18, 2009, 04:24:12 AM Ducatitorrey

We have another month at least of cold wet weather, if not snow, so i have some time to fix her up. CW tail chop is already on its way. frame sliders soon after. A small bit of powder coating soon after and i should be good for a few months at least, then onto grips, mirrors, etc. I'm heading to Colorado on a ski trip this weekend though, it's probably going to be the first time i'v been more distracted by something else while skiing, especially out west! I'm going to miss her! DT Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: w7ck7d on February 18, 2009, 05:25:50 AM sounds like a plan man..hope you have a good time..

Can't wait for weekend rides though, i'll for sure be getting up early for those. Head out to Lake Michigan for sunrise, it'll be awesome.

It says "Monster" guys, It does look like it says "cocster" from that view though...I never noticed that, It is actually an older Ducati font, it's just when you go vertical instead of horizontal it changes the way it looks. THE BIKE IS SICK! and thanks for the help on the rearsets!! Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: Rambler1982 on February 18, 2009, 08:38:33 AM Hahaha it totally looks like "COCSTER"!!!
I do, however, like the sticker on the seat cowl. I was unable to find it at tapeworks.com. Do you have a link? Thanks. Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: Mojo S2R on February 18, 2009, 11:42:38 AM Looks killer [thumbsup] I really like what you've done. May I suggest covering up that yellow shock with either a black or red shock sock. I got mine here http://myworld.ebay.com/duc-m750. She usually makes them in sets of two specifically for off-road bikes but made a single for me. All I had to provide was some measurements.
Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: mookieo2 on February 18, 2009, 12:38:50 PM Looks great. How is the paint holding up on the rearsets?. I would think it would scratch easy. What kind of paint did you use?
Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: StandTall on February 18, 2009, 01:40:22 PM Outstanding! where did you get the red anodized bolts?
Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: monstermania on February 18, 2009, 02:48:39 PM Looks great. How is the paint holding up on the rearsets?. I would think it would scratch easy. What kind of paint did you use? The paint on the rearsets is holding up well as long as nothing hard like a rock hits them, then you just do a little touch up job. Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: roggie on February 18, 2009, 02:49:38 PM looks good, what mt bike mirrors did you use?
Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: monstermania on February 18, 2009, 02:53:02 PM Outstanding! where did you get the red anodized bolts? As far as the bolts go I actually removed them, sprayed them with red anodize paint from duplicolor and re installed them. They look good and hold up perfectly. Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: monstermania on February 18, 2009, 02:55:52 PM looks good, what mt bike mirrors did you use? I got the mirrors at Sport Challet, got the pair for $30, not sure which brand, as it has been a while but you can tell by looking at them which ones they are. Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: DrNo08 on February 18, 2009, 08:57:21 PM looks great. Where did you get your vinyl fork wrap?
Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: hcomp on February 18, 2009, 09:16:22 PM WOW, that thing is BLACK! Looks awesome! Like the forks a lot! I like the graphics too. If it is any consolation, I didn't think it said cockster.
Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: myduc696 on February 18, 2009, 09:19:44 PM Are you planning on selling your OEM mirrors, if you still have it?
Thanks Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: monstermania on February 18, 2009, 10:16:38 PM looks great. Where did you get your vinyl fork wrap? I ordered the vinyl fork wrap here http://www.signsplusbanners.com/Oracal_851.html Got this link from someone else off the forums who had done it before me. Mine is the flat black. Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: w7ck7d on February 20, 2009, 12:44:48 AM ist hard to wrap the fork??
Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: monstermania on February 20, 2009, 05:34:52 PM ist hard to wrap the fork?? The parts that I wrapped are easy, but I tried to do the lower beveled part at the bottom of the fork where it changes in size, and I could never get it to look good so I just took it off and left it. I have seen other peoples forks wrapped on here and they were able to do this part of the fork and it looked good but I can't figure out how they did it. Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: wisdesign on February 21, 2009, 07:32:32 AM Just use a separate strip for the flared bit. You'll never notice it's a separate piece... see? BTW - Nice work! [clap]

Which size did you buy? What quantity? and was it the right amount? Do you have any tips for me and does the vinyl overlap on the back side of the forks. Sorry for the rapid firing of questions. Bike looks great BTW [thumbsup]

[clap] (http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/pp17/wisdesign/Christmas_Mods_2.jpg) Yea, yours looks great! I couldn't get the small piece for the flare to stay on. It kept wanting to peel off. Bike looks great BTW [thumbsup] Thanks I bought two pieces of the 24" and it was more than enough. The only tip I have is to do it where it is warm, you can also use a hairdryer to heat it up when you put it on, it seems to help it stick and handle better The pieces do slightly overlap on the inside of the fork but you can't tell. Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: monstermania on February 21, 2009, 06:57:46 PM Hey guys, my bad, this is where I ordered my flat black vinyl.
http://www.vinyloutlet.net/631-ec15punched070black-1-2.aspx (http://www.vinyloutlet.net/631-ec15punched070black-1-2.aspx) Get the 10"x24", two pieces, It is only $2 a piece and it will be plenty to do the job. Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: wisdesign on February 22, 2009, 06:46:32 AM Yea, yours looks great! I couldn't get the small piece for the flare to stay on. It kept wanting to peel off. Hunh.... weird. Maybe try to clean it with alcohol and use some heat from a hairdryer or heat gun if you've got one. Or... if it's not bothering you... just let it be. Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: Holden on February 22, 2009, 09:59:00 AM I'd leave it. Nice little accent.
P.S. your heat shield is/was on backwards. ;) Title: Re: Pics of my 696 dark Post by: monstermania on February 22, 2009, 05:12:51 PM I'd leave it. Nice little accent.
