Title: I love hammer drills!
Post by: CDawg on February 18, 2009, 12:26:37 PM
Just had to share with someone that I love my new hammer drill!  It use to take me 30~45 minutes to drill one inch in concrete...now it take about 30 seconds to drill three inches!  I wish I had more concrete to drill!!!

Talk about the joys of using the right tool for the job!

What brand. I've had an eletronic AEG for almost 20 years. Great tool. To bad they don't import them any more.

So when the only tool you have is a hammer drill, does all the world look like a nail screw?

Sorry. Couldn't help myself. I'll go report to the "ban yourself" thread.

Oh yeah, they are sweet!!!

You guys think I could demo a very old, smallish, brick garage with a hammer drill?  I was thinking about getting one that had the hammer only function, and using it to knock bricks out one at a time.

And while we're talking Bosch, I f'ing love this little Impactor.  As soon as my rep brought one in, I had to buy one.

I have the PS-20 screw gun as well, but the PS-40 impactor crushes it all day long.  I love it!

I have been drolling over that little Bocsh since it came out.

B laughs at me when I point them out in stores.  I don't think he realizes how powerful they really are.

Bigger isn't always better.

Hammer drills and Hole Hawgs lose their charm if you use them every day.

Glad I don't any more.

They're more user friendly now.

It's all perspective.

I think Sawsalls and dremels are the ultimate power tools.  Too me at least.  Though a good hammer drill has come in handy when needed.  Hell, powertools in general are the shiznit  [cheeky]

+1

Spent just shy of two years working at Anchorage International Airport installing the C concourse baggage system.
After weeks up in a sissor lift drilling holes and bolting hangers from the ceiling, hammer drills get old.
IIRC the Bosch was the only hammer drill that survived the whole job without going in for repairs. ( our crew was a little rough on power tools  [evil] )

No I got news for *you!*

I *am* awesome! [laugh]

Todays tools are a lot lighter.

But I will admit, working overhead for that long sucks balls no matter who's tool you're running.  Actually, working overhead just plain sucks.

Good tools pay for themselves many times over.

And the Bosch products are something you can count on.

You would a thunk a huge company that puts out quality products and is always on the cutting edge of technology would be non-profit, as it were.  What a concept.

Go get yourself a Milwaukee Hole Hawg right angle drill and tell me it's lighter.  It's a beast, just like it's supposed to be.  And it's also *awsome*    ;D

They get beastier with a 3 5/8 or 4" hole saw chucked up.

A 1" auger is baby games... ;)

I can attest to this.

Hole saws suck. Period.  I used to use a 6" for running duct through the backs of cabinets, and had a few attempts at trying to go through something more substantial.    Ya gotta be tough to work construction.     ;D

I didn't have to be tough...

I was not a construction worker.

I was an eeeeelectrician. [laugh]

The trades, along with the hammer drill and hole hawg, also lose their allure over time. ;)

There is a difference between a trade and a craft.  Unfortunately the difference is immaterial.    ;)
