Title: My new track Toy
Post by: Big Troubled Bear on February 20, 2009, 03:30:56 AM
So at the end of last year I sold my old track bike, a 04 R1 that were used by a good friends son, in the local unlimted class  SBK racing.
he finished second in the championship and I found someone to take the thing off my hands.

So aftyer searching a bit I found a 08 R1 and after successfull testing it now is almost ready for racing, just need to finalise the race stickers and buy new tyres [thumbsup]

This one is a bit more special than it`s predecessor,

Graves rear sets
Full YEC motor
Pwer commander 3
Wide band Commander
Dynojet Quick shifter
Full titanium Micron Exhaust system ( They have gone bust in the mean time )
Ohlins rear shock
K-tech fork internals
190 BHP on the Dyno [thumbsup] (That`s at altitude here in Gauteng South Africa )

So far with the limited testing it went 1.5 seconds faster around the track ( Zwartkops ) than the old one ;D

Man I could not imagine riding any motorcycle with nearly 200 HP.  I would kill myself for sure.

Say goodbye to your $$. You are going to be buying lots of tires. [beer]   Congrats on the bike.  [thumbsup]

You don't need 200 hp to eat tires...

a lowly 996 can do it.

This thing spins up the rear at 8500 in fourth with the front going to the sky when you open the throttle ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

It`s as close as I will ever get to a real factory special and will have to last a season without a rebuild or the budget will be as make the beast with two backsed as the back tyre, which by the way is a Dunlop Sportmax GP D211GP 190 that has only done 20 laps [bang]
