My college is sending me to Los Angeles March 5th-8th for an aerospace engineering project I've been working on all year. I was looking at what the weather would be like first, from what I can tell its going to be about 65-70 degrees? I don't know how much free time I'll have but I've never been to the west coast before so I'd love to see something on the pacific coast. I guess I'd also like to see some of the generic hollywood tourists spots too.
The same week all my other buddys are going to be in Vegas and I was thinking of renting a bike from eagle rider @LAX and then dropping it off at their location in Vegas. It sounds like a good ride, anyone have any other suggestions for doing this? The rates are like $120 bucks a day as far as I can tell.
Much thanks in advance. - Sean
Ricks in Santa Monica every Wednesday night [thumbsup]
if 300 miles of absolutely straight freeway with no scenery is your idea of a good ride, go for it.
then again, you won't be flatspotting one of your own tires.
the weather between the coast and vegas can vary greatly. But yeah, as said above, it's a pretty boring ride. There are better rides in less distance.
Where exactly in "LA" are you going to be? Most of my out-of-state friends think "LA" encompasses everything south of santa barbara, down to camp pendleton, and east to the border. having a better idea will give you more options on rides and/or social/touristy type locations.
go have drinks at chateu marmont

I'll actually be in LA, don't know which hotel yet but it will be in the city.
The ride might not happen but I wasn't planning on slabing it, maybe taking some extra days to explore other areas then finish in vegas.

ACH aka Highway 2 is pretty good too, I'm not sure how far the road goes through tho.
There aren't a lot of options to get to Vegas that don't entail the superslab... maybe go up 14/395 and through death Valley, but I've never done that personally.

let us know where you're staying in LA. The traffic is horrific, and you can spend 50% of your vacation stuck on the highway.
Yeah let us know where you'll be.... I"m here @ http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hotel/LAXAHHH-Hilton-Los-Angeles-Airport-California/index.do (http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hotel/LAXAHHH-Hilton-Los-Angeles-Airport-California/index.do)
