Word. I used to drive a Suzuki (totaled in 05) and now it's time to get the bike I have always wanted. Hard to find good (reasonably priced) ones in DC. I'm looking on Craigslist and one of the bikes I found is:

Is this far too much mileage?

Is this too weak?

I got no details in my reply so I don't know much about it.
Any help you all can provide, especially places I could find my "new" Duc (ideally a Dark), I am all ears. Thanks so much.
You might also want to try your local club, CAM. Its on the left side of this page, click Local Listings then find CAM. The locals may have info on these bikes or may know of others for sale.
I'm in the DC area and it took me about 6 months to find a 2005 dark S2R 800 for $5k. It came off of ebay, but was local. Had some issues, but in good shape mechanically. I got the deal because it had 10k miles and had not had it's 6k service. Ran great, didn't sound like any major valve issues so I used the deferred service to negotiate down.
IMHO 13k miles is no big deal, if the person has service records and the 6k and 12k services have been done. Says belts were changed 2.5k ago, but if it was done more than 2 years ago, you want the belts changed again.
I'm in Alexandria, VA and was in the same boat as you last year. I wanted a red/white s2r1000 and had to look for several months until I found one locally. I got it from Coleman Powersports in Falls Church. I kept stopping in there and the Woodbridge location looking at the used bikes. I was also watching craigslist, eBay, cycletrader and Clinton Cycles in Maryland. One day I stopped in at Coleman and they had a used bike with the specs I wanted. They just got it that morning. I bought it right then and there.
Good luck with your search, and yeah, check out the CAM forum in the 'Local Clubs' listing to the left.

I'm down in Arlington
That 750 and the 620 are going to be about even up on power FYI. The 750 is a carby bike, vs the FI on the 620. If asked to choose between the 620 and the 750, I'd go 620. 900s are tanks, but that seems a touch high for a what appears to be a mostly stock 900 and no details in the listing. I bought a 900S with 18K on the clock and its still going strong 10k later.
Another shop to call is DucPond http://www.ducpond.com/newbikes.html - they are out in Winchester, some 70 miles from DC - but they are worth the trip if you want you bike worked on (one you get it). They are also a dealer - while they don't carry as big a stock as a place like colemans they do get in more customized bikes and they demos that then sell usually have a few aftermarket goodies.
As mentioned, you might want to post what sort of biek your looking for in CAM, someone might know one that's not listed on places like CL
My girlfriend just finished her search for a Duc in the DC area and came away with a nice grey 750 Sie.
We looked at this bike and rode it:

Unless the guy has fixed it, there is a nice ding in the tank, a crack in the instrument panel, and a couple other blemishes I can't remember. It felt nice and light, but given that he hadn't mentioned those things before we saw the bike we weren't about to buy it.
Good luck in your search. It took she and I quite a while to find something we liked. Oh, and I second the Coleman Powersports. I bought my 07 S2R1k from there in Sept and it continues to blow my mind.
