Title: cleaning a helmet Post by: DucPete on May 14, 2008, 10:22:59 AM I remember a thread in my prior life regarding washing the inside of my helmet. I wanted to reflect back on this but didn't want to visit that particular site.
I remember people wearing their helmet into the shower and using shampoo to wash it. What else do people do to clean their non-removable liner? Both for smell, and skin oils and such. Haven't had to do that just yet though.
Title: Re: cleaning a helmet Post by: ValveFloat on May 15, 2008, 12:40:11 PM That is pretty much how I washed my previous helmet. I would run water into it in the sink, basically filling it up. Put in just a drop of laundry soap, swish it around, scrub the lining a bit, then rinse several times. Blot dry it with a towel, then air dry for a couple days.

never washed my old lid... partly because I smell like roses, but mostly because it got stolen before it got too stinky. :( Title: Re: cleaning a helmet Post by: Grappa on May 15, 2008, 09:43:55 PM I *heart* removable liner [cheeky] never washed my old lid... partly because I smell like roses, but mostly because it got stolen before it got too stinky. :( Maybe nobody would have stolen it if it didn't smell like roses. Plus it makes it smell nice. [cheeky]
Title: Re: cleaning a helmet Post by: DesmoTull on May 21, 2008, 09:46:02 AM I use a real mild soap and water. Just make sure you dry it out well, or else it'll get all gross with mildew. ewww.
