Title: Free: Stealth Vessel
Post by: Monster Dave on February 25, 2009, 12:10:36 PM
Has anyone else heard about this? Appearantly, stealth technology has become so common place that the Navy hasn't been able to even give this ship away and has been trying since 2006!!!!!!

Here's the article:

I suppose a gen 2 vessel like the Stiletto trumps the gen 1 vessel.

Still though, who in thier right mind wouldn't want to add a US Stealth vessel to thier collection of military vehicles!?!

Wasn't a boat like that in one of those Pierce Brosnan / James Bond movies?

Yeah it was - that was shortly after the vessel was made public.

Someone needs to call up Xzibit and have Pimp My Ride do this ride!!!

do you think it'll fit in a standard size boat slip? the bigger slips cost more per month

Doesn't matter...no one would know it's there.  ;D

The reason nobody wants it: the military doesn't let anything big go until the weight of the paperwork exceeds that of the item.

The DMF should get it and part it out and make our monsters STEALTH.  [evil]

i followed this when that ship was developed (in the 80's if i recall).  problem was that
although the actual ship re-directed radar, sea waves cause a characteristic pattern, so
that the radar operators could see a 'hole' in the sea return where the ship was located.

The article does say that it comes with it's own rickety old and rusting barge for docking and concealement from the Russians.

I ended spending an hour on wiki reading about it and the barge.  Very interesting history, especially the Hughes Barge.
