Title: Sal's run Post by: Bellagio on February 25, 2009, 03:03:12 PM Just seeing if anyone else is down for a Sals Pizza run soon. Never had it, I'm dying to try it, and no one else wants to make the trek from Milwaukee out there. Let's set something up!
Title: Re: Sal's run Post by: That Nice Guy Beck! on February 28, 2009, 07:07:12 PM thanks for stopping in [thumbsup]

I know where I'll be going once all this damn snow clears out of WI. In the summer a full day at Holy Hill or in the Kettle, finished up at Sals with a Blakes Pesto Pie, can't wait for it.
Funny thing is a buddy of mine wne tot the sals downtown Milwaukee on Saturday and had a left over garlic knot from there... you won hands down! Cheers [drink] Title: Re: Sal's run Post by: That Nice Guy Beck! on March 02, 2009, 04:02:27 PM Beck, it was great to meet you! the food was insane good. The riccota in the calzone was superb! The food is worth the two hour ride to get there! Hopefully a meeting or two can take place there this summer.
"Beck", thanks for taking a couple of minutes out of your busy afternoon. I enjoyed meeting you. So for me it is not really a get away. Maybe a ride through the Kettles. Just have to stay away from the rustic trail by Holy Hill. Some of those roads are quite dangerous as I have found out.

The weather should still be beautiful. Only problem is, Beck sold his bike so he'd have to drive his Bimmer next to the ride!
Title: Re: Sal's run Post by: WarrenJ on March 30, 2010, 11:56:40 AM I stopped in there last year once with my wife and another couple. It was the best antipasto salad I have ever had. The food was great. If I can work it out with weather and schedule - I'm in.
Title: Re: Sal's run Post by: gregrnel on March 31, 2010, 04:10:52 AM Sal's? Where? Marquette campus? Waukesha?
I'd love to, but I'll be suffering on a beach in Mexico next week with a cup always full gin and tonic. :-[ Title: Re: Sal's run Post by: WarrenJ on March 31, 2010, 05:42:20 AM Its on main street (Hwy 60) in Hartford
Title: Re: Sal's run Post by: Bellagio on March 31, 2010, 10:03:30 AM I was thinking next Wednesday night weather permitting. Have some pizza and then ride around some twisties out there. Beck is looking at the 2007 S4RS in Tulsa, OK (It's on the Monsters For Sale board). I think we might cruise out there together next weekend, throw it in the back of his pizza delivery van, and come back home.
Title: Re: Sal's run Post by: WarrenJ on April 01, 2010, 04:47:30 AM What time are you thinking?
Title: Re: Sal's run Post by: Bellagio on April 02, 2010, 07:03:35 AM Meet at Sals at 5:15, I work out in Brookfield and am out at 4:30. Still have a few hours of sunlight to rip up some pavement then eat some stuffed pizza!
Title: Re: Sal's run Post by: WarrenJ on April 02, 2010, 09:18:35 AM I'd have to leave about 3:30 to get down - I'll see what I can work out.
Title: Re: Sal's run Post by: Bellagio on April 02, 2010, 10:41:07 AM Good deal, keep me posted. It's official, Beck bought the 07 S4RS from Tulsa. I can't wait to check that bad boy out.
Title: Re: Sal's run Post by: WarrenJ on April 06, 2010, 05:47:57 AM Currently its looking like cool and rainy for wednesday afternoon - are you getting any different reports down there?
Title: Re: Sal's run Post by: Bellagio on April 06, 2010, 01:33:01 PM I'm going to have to cancel for this Wednesday. I came down with a nasty bug and have been sick since Monday. I'm not going out on the bike tomorrow just getting over this illness. It's looking to be quite dreary out on Wednesday. We'll have to take a rain check on this one.
Title: Re: Sal's run Post by: WarrenJ on April 07, 2010, 02:42:02 AM Unfortunately, I agree - 4 hours of riding in marginal conditions doesn't sound like a lot of fun. Get healthy and we'll look for another opportunity. Slimy Crud Run is coming up the first Sunday in May. If the weather is good and I don't have any major conflicts, I'd like to ride that again. It would be good to put some faces to the text. Take care of yourself.
30 mph winds and rain turing to snow - not a good day to be out and about. |
