I'm excited about this year's tournament. Now that I live in Dallas, its very interesting to see a completely different perspective on the sport of College Basketball. Growing up, it was Kentucky or UNC/Tobacco Rd. talk, or none at all - and now all I hear about is [obviously] Texas, and OU basketball, and unfortunately Kansas.
As far as matchups go, I'd really like to see Tyler Hansbrough take on Blake Griffin.
Tigers have a good matchup tonight, Memphis @ UAB - UAB hasn't lost a game at home in a long time. I'm hoping the conclusion of this years battle won't have fans throwing cups of urine and liquor bottles on the court, forcing my team's players to 'regulate'.
Anybody else looking for to March Madness? [popcorn]
I look forward to March and the first week of April 47 weeks out of the year.
So yes, I'm looking forward to it. [laugh]

When is Memphis going to do that program justice and join a real conference. [puke] Hell, the Big East would probably take you in for this season.
I'm not throwing off on Memphis' team. But it just seems they're a little over rated every year (except for last year, but they still could have been better if they would have been challenge during February).
This year was tough early, and few people give teams like UTEP and UAB credit when they are decent programs. But once the conference is labeled a Hyundai, nobody is going to let it pass for a sports car, ever.
Memphis has been trying to get out for awhile, Cal has done quite a bit of campaigning for it. But our football program blows. BEEEE LOWS. When had a decent team with DeAngelo Williams. However, without another DeAngelo right after him to keep the program competitive, there was no way to get out of C-USA. And you can't recruit that kind of talent while you are in C-USA, especially in the southeast. 45 minutes south is Ole Miss, football players from the Midsouth would rather go there. And football seems to be what is keeping us stuck in C-USA.
At least Coach Cal has done a good bit of work in getting us into a good non-conference schedule against schools with a good basketball tradition. I just wish Louisville and Cincinnati were still part of conference play. There's only so many non-conference games a team can schedule and get to play Tennessee, UMass, Georgetown, Xavier, Zags and the like.
What can be said this year, unlike last year, is that free throws aren't going to be a big deal. We can hit them this year. I'm going to guess there was a lot of 'work' in whatever way one goes about that over the off-season.
I'm also glad that Pierre Niles did not have to slap some fools at UAB this year. (Can't blame him for slappin folks who are throwin' urine last year though. and the NCAA agreed)
So much for Conference USA, huh?
Coach Cal finally found a way to get Memphis, I mean Memphis's players, out of that shit Conference.
ATO, you got to be pretty pissed off I would think? You still a Coach Cal fan or you gonna treat hime like we Heels fans treat Mack Brown?
I'm not even really sure at this point.
I guess its disheartening to realize, first hand, that college basketball is junior-NBA where entire teams and coaches can be bought (our situation - the whole team is being bought for the 30+ mil, not just Coach Cal).
I suppose for his generation it is Kentucky but for my generation, its merely Kentucky. We offered him more money than they did to stay in Memphis, but I suppose working there is like me working for Ducati's bikini team.
I'm going to keep cheering on my Tigers, and my other stand-by's (The Heels and Gonzaga, Georgia if they ever get a team again).
But its horrible for him to take the players with him. I'm 'bummed', devastated, sad, all at the same time. I'm not ready to wish him well for the good things he did for our program just yet. His daughter, the one enrolled at Memphis, did not want him to leave, which I find interesting.
It seems Memphis is getting no attention whatsoever from all this. Basically all you hear is how good Kentucky is going to be in a couple of years and how much money Calipari is getting.
I did hear that Tyreke Evans declared for the draft, but other than that, I haven't heard much.
Any idea who Memphis is going to go after for a head coach? And did Cal take all his assistants with him to UK?
Well, his #1 assistant was Kellogg who is now coaching UMass, beyond him I believe he will take those coaches. The list of coaches the school is looking into is long, and distinguished:
First it was Mark Anderson of Mizzou, but Mizzou was able to keep him for essentially pennies.
The short list of other coaches is:
-Bruce Pearl
-Ol' Pitino (with the idea of paying him a dollar more than Calipari so Calipari can't be #1)
-The rest of the list is quite long.
Tyreke Evans came out and said that he was declaring because he wasn't coming back to play for a new coach [and what he said without saying it was that he wasn't going to put the NBA off two years to go redshirt a year with Coach Cal and then play again]. He'll be drafted without issue this time.
Shawn Taggart is staying on for one more it seems, which is good - he's got real heart for the game and school pride, evident at the end of the NCAA game. Wesley Witherspoon and Roburt Sallie have both said they'll transfer to UK. (Why? They can't get scholarship there - UK only has three - Jodie Meeks, Xavier Henry, and another top ranked freshman will get those)
I will be cheering for UNC this championship for sure.
I don't hear anything about TX basketball and I worked at a HS who was #1 in the state!! It's Football here and nothing else!!
I'll be rooting for MSU..although I do like all the other teams! As long as Duke is OUT!! [clap] [clap] [clap]

When Texas played dook this year in the tournament, that is the only time I have pulled for them. I don't like Rick Barnes from when he coached Clemson and I don't like Mack Brown for obvious reasons. So f Texas.
Glad you're pulling for us, ATO. With Calipari gone, I might actually be able to root for Memphis now. As for Kentucky, I dislike them more than ever. I hope Calipari will keep the early non-conference game we have with them every year now.
The UL and UK rivalry is gonna be huge now as well because it doesn't look like Pitino is gonna leave.
I'll be pulling for Memphis now for one reason.
I want them to continue going undefeated in C-USA without Cal at the helm so people realize the conference really is total crap. ;D
