Here's the backstory. (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny_crime/2009/02/20/2009-02-20_revolution_at_new_york_university_ends_w.html)
And one thing I want to build consensus on. Let's democratically agree that the guy holding the camera needs to be punched in the face until no more words come out.

couldnt make it to the end.
should have led with the tazer [leo]
So, as I understand it, people occupied a state-owned building and started making demands.
The NYPD was never, as far as I can tell, involved. According to the video and the link, everything was handled with NYU Security personnel.
I see this as a direct result of the riots in Greece last year.
I can respect what they're trying to do. The way they chose to go about it will be a good "How Not To" for future social activists.
May I make a recommendation? Pepper spray (http://www.sabrered.com/servlet/the-template/LawEnforcement-dsh-AerosolGrenades/Page) aerosol grenades.
Hell, its a college cafeteria. Might add some flavor.
I want to collectively decide to kick that kid in the nuts.

camera man is a total douche...
but college needs to be more affordable, i can agree with that. my college tuition costs have doubled since i started 4 years ago.
i can't see this alleged video, but i'm nto shocked that there was a poorly organized protest with a bunch of confused douchebags at nyu.
it seems half the people i knew from there would switch causes every other week. i never came up with a name for them, but i'm pretty sure faux-hippy would have been a part of it.

My favorites were the "trustifarians."

there were a few restaurants that i loved int he village, the only problemis i wanted to punch most of the people i encountered.
my fav was a guy asking me if i wanted to join some anti-fur group. i was wearing a leather jacket. he was seriously taken back that i said no and when i inquired why he asked the guy wearing a leather jacket.
at least they are being outspoken and not taking it laying down. not sure what it is they are taking, but dag nabbit they aren't laying down while taking it!
What an incredible show of self-restraint on the part of the security and officials in that video.
I would've hit the kid in the face with a chair 10 seconds into it.

10 seconds?!? I was ready to hit the guy about 5 seconds into it.... [evil]

At the beginning of the video none of them were close enough to him to do it though. It would've taken a little time to pick a chair up and get to him.
I thought it through. ;)
I can't believe I watched the whole thing and no one even got a boot to the head.
Big thumbs up to NYU for being so incredibly patient with these mouthbreathers.
I want my 9minutes 22 seconds back.
my guess is..... one of the professors there was handing out chaos credits. All the poly/sci slackers who were on the edge between D and F showed up to cash in.
thats retarded. i coudlnt even watch teh whole 9 minutes of garbage.
Though...i will say this. NYU is make the beast with two backsing RIDICULOUSLY expensive. and if that was on the NYU campus, or what they consider a campus, its not state owned, its NYU owned, and thats why it cost s omake the beast with two backsing much.
Every person i know who went there came out came out all sorts of werid. and i no longer trust them. this is considering their whole undergrad dept. their graduate dept though has some really brilliant people comming out. but I seriously do not like that school. itll turn a straight sensible mind into a communistic tree hugging rosie odonald nut job. Hell, as knightofni said, you cant be around those students for more than a few mins becasue theyll be fighting for some other insane cause, or asking you dumbass questions.
they recently aquired a whole college, Polytechnical, now known as NYU Tech...uhh guess where? in DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN. Last thing i heard from a friend over there, they sky rocketed the 28grand a year tution to 40grand and people are up in arms about it since their old scholarships will not be transferable.
i went to polytech. it was 24K per year when i left.
and it's more like re-aquired. poly used to be a part of NYU but then split off.
also, metrotech is a very nice area. just on the far side (from manhattan) it gets kinda bad (flatbush ave ext when i dormed)
further towards manhattan is brooklyn heights and the courthouse. that is a pretty well to do area. i loved living there.
ok, just got home and watched the video. i'll make the sacrifice and be the one taht decks him.
make the beast with two backsing wanna be intellectual asshole.
take a few more classes on "democratic process" then go into the real world. then come back and fight for whatever it is you were trying to make a point about.
"we're using the demographic process to blah blah blah"
KnightofNi, send me an e-punch and ill gladly fwd the message. [evil]
when did you leave polytech? 24k doesnt sound too long ago at the rate they are raising right now. and i guess thats why it was so damn expensive.
the metrotech area has gone under HUGE renovation since then. the twin gold st condos by the precinct near the Manhattan bridge and the metrotech center (though that might of been there when you were here). great place to live especially around the heights.
either way, NYU students are still make the beast with two backsing nuts.
i left in 2001. i ran out of money and coudn't pay rent since i was working part time as a bike messenger.
they had just broken put up the plans for the polytech dorms and some more buildings in the area. from metrotech to the heights was (and prob still is) great. it's what was behind it that needs work.
as for the e-punch, i'm only 2-2.5 hrs away, i'll make a house call ;D
just tell me what dorm he is living in at nyu and i'll meet him outside as he's smoking and talking about something he feels college kids should talk about because their minds haven't been caged by The Man.
