Just curious how you guys go about choosing your helmet.  I have always had black, but for some reason, I want a little color this time.
(For the record, I know that fitment is foremost and I prefer the Exo700, but it is offered in so many colors, I just can't decide).

I match. But then again I own a purple chair, so take my opinion at face value.

FWIW I own a red and white exo700 burst  [thumbsup]

That is what started this question.  I like the red and black burst, but have a black and tang bike.  Could be potential style suicide.  But so could the bengal tiger humping a zebra looking Exo700 Predator.

When I bought my TriColore, my helmet was already 7 years old (RX7-RR3 KRJR model). When I saw an Italy themed Arai Profile on Fleabay for under $300, I took it. Not as nice as a brand spankin new Corsair, but the poseur factor was high  :P

My EXO700, matte black match my Dark S2R very nicely...

A lot of Scorpion fans, huh?

I guess mine kinda matches the bike - red M696 with the Arai Profile Italian tricolor. It's also got lots of gray and black, so the helmet matches with most Ducs (except yellow).

my helmet matches my jacket and gloves but my bike is black so it doesnt matter. I always thought matching your bike to all your gear thing was kinda dumb but whatever.

Yup, I have an exo700 crackhead in /black/red and I love it.  I tried on several of the more expensive brands but for fit/finish/price the scorpion won hands down.  I am not saying that it is better quality than the other more expensive lids but for the price the difference quality/fit is negligible.

Very good airflow at higher speeds too (head does not wiggle at all on the super-slab).  The venting is also excellent.

Very lightweight too.  Actually, only about 2 oz. heavier than my friends $600 Arai and lighter than another friends Shoei.

I tried to match with my first helmet

But then I said screw it and got the helmet that I wanted.

White is the least naturally occurring color in nature so I roll a white lid.  Like I give a rats-ass what I look like while rollin'!

Visability first....

Don't match unless your bike is black and your helmet is black (red/red is barely permissible).  And don't get one of those replica helmets.  They look like someone puked on your head.

Ya kiddin? Animals... vegetables... minerals... clouds... snow (except for the yellow variety)...

If you didn't care what you looked like you'd rock a dayglo lid. [cheeky]

I'm already enough of a poseur as it is  :) so, to intentionally match would just put me over the top

I try to match or complement, but also try to not look like I feel out of the Ducati accessory catalog.

my helmets have to have red in them (my racing superstition) and my bike is red but its not intentional.  I wore the same helmet with my white/black and yellow/black track bike

I think having the helmet matching the bike might be a bit much.  (I have a yellow 620)  Don't want to look like a poser or a clown.  I got a solid metalic gray helmet to match the frame and my gears are black and gray.

Not much on the replicas, but I do get a chuckle out of that Rossi hemlet.  Now if I could get my dumbass face on the top of a black exo700.  Best of both worlds!

The black does have a big disadvantage with visibility.  Although sometimes I think I could be in hunter orange, have lights and a siren, and fart like the General Lee horn, and the crazies will still pull out in front of me.

Red helmet, red bikes, red jacket.

I don't think they HAVE to match, I just did it. It's not like I'm going to buy all new gear if I get a new colour bike (do they make anything other than red?  ;D )

I think it look's cool that my Dainese tricolore helmet match's my s4rs tricolore  [thumbsup]

The guy that bought my 2007 s4r which was red with white stripe had the whole bike repainted to match this 2008 ducati stripes helmet, and heres me thinking that you matched the helmet to the bike and not the other way round  [bang]

Matte black Icon Mainframe on a monster dark, but I wear a Joe Rocket Corona jacket in summer that doesn't match anything atall.
My buddy rides a yellow 620, yellow helmet, jacket, gloves. I'll buy him yellow shoes for his next birthday. ;D

Shoei Eric Bostrom replica. I liked the flames on it.  :)   doesn't match my red s2r.
otherwise I don't care if it matches or not, just that it looks good. solids always are a good neutral look.
I like Nakid's lid matching his bike though. [thumbsup]

+1 -- I went with a red and white model of a maker that fit my head well. If I were picking for aesthetics, mine would be one of the last lids I'd pick.

the lid? I just like it.

jacket's red because it fit, and was on sale at D store... I could live w/o the big  72 on the back of it, but whatever.

gloves and boots are black, only because rocking white sidi's on the street woud just be silly. make the beast with two backs that, maybe I should!

bike's red, but that may change.

I went with the matching colors.  I got a Scorpion  2009 Model
EXO-700 Burst Helmet, not the most expensive.
I'm considering getting an Aria or Shoei.
I figure nice bike, nice gear....
What so good about an Arai over a HJC or KBC?

It really depends on what fits you best.

I had a M HJC that would lift off my head at speed.

Went to an ARAI and all that went away.

IMO it's not about brand.

I bought a matte black Shoei Raid II about three years ago. I didn't have a bike then (bought it to take my driverslicense) but it really matches the 695 Dark I bought last year. Don't know if I'll buy a matte black one again though... I think I'll try a AGV TiTech Tricolore. Italian spirit !
