Title: high milage tires
Post by: Latinbalar on February 27, 2009, 03:11:49 PM
So i did a search and came back with zilch,

Down here in South Florida we don't have, whats that you call them, twisties  :'( . so any way so far i have had the stock Pirelli diablo's which are good tires just they fall in quick and wear out fast x2. then i currently have the Pilot roads which are great tires and lasted alot longer than the diablo's. but its about a few months away from getting to the wear marks and I am going to start shopping for a new rear tire.  So i post this question to those who put lots of miles in striaght lines.  Do i stay with the pilot roads or is there something out there better for my particular situation.

Bike info: 05' 620 dark (the faster color)

thanks in advanced

i have used the pilot roads, diablo stradas and just put on some Avon Storm ST (which i really like so far)
unfortunately...they all went on different bikes and i havent put on enough miles on any of them to compare.

if you need just a rear, i would do another pilot road (or road 2) and then you could try something else when the set wears out...

Just go with something that has touring after the name of the tire.  They will be a harder compound and not as sticky or good in corners but if you don't do any hard or frequent cornering then it won't be a problem and you will get more miles out of them.

I have nothing but good things to say about my Pilot Roads.  High mileage and they still handle really well in the curves.  I will use them as long as Michelin makes them!

Pilot Road 2Cts, core of a pilot road, roundness more like a pilot power (roads are like squares compared to powers), and the edge of a regular power! best of both worlds! supposely, it can hit 10,000 miles on normal surfaces!

I have had much better luck with Conti Road Attacks than the Pilot Powers that came with my bike but I can't say how they compare the the michelin road CTs.  Has anyone had both on their bike?

Another vote for Pilot Road 2's. I think I already have 6000 miles on my set and they still look great. I used to run Powers which are nice, but for street riding, the Road 2's have plenty of grip and way better life.
