While watching Blues Brothers last night, i got to thinking that it has my favorite car chase scene in any movie i have seen.
So without further adu, my vote: Blues Brothers.
lets hear yours
I've always loved Ronin.
Hasn't this been done already?
I'll still play...
"No Man's Land" - The "Test Drive" through Griffith Park.
or
"Against All Odds" - Porsche v. Ferrari in the begining (only part of the movie I remember)
I like the stuff in Ronin and the Bourne movies.
Thunder road.
Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry.
Pretty much all of the Italian Job (the original, thank you)
Clap clap clapclapclap clapclap clapclap ENGLAND
ronin hands down.
The Love Bug 1969. :)
i'm all for ronin, but nobody has mentioned 'the french connection' yet?
Well, it's not really a chase, but my favourite car scene of any movie is C'etait un Rendezvous.

I heard so many times what a great car chase was in it.
After it happened, my old man asked what I thought.
I said "That was it?" I didn't even
realize it was happening. Not impressed.
Now Bullitt on the other hand.....
Pretty much all of Redline and Torque. But a close second would HAVE to be 2Fast 2Furious.

Popeye Doyle FTW! [thumbsup]
My vote: Bullitt [thumbsup]
There are so many, that it's hard to pick my single favorite. Some contenders:
- Bullitt (McQueen...)
- Blues Brothers "through the mall" (mentioned before, but it's really a fun one)
- Ronin - A modern classic
- Bourne Ultimatum (?) -- There are a few Bourne chases, but my fave is the scene in Moscow where JB is in an old (Lada?) cab and chased by the Russian in a G-wagen
- The Road Warrior (entire movie is one big chase scene [laugh])
- I just rented The Dark Knight - The semi/armored car scene is great.
- There are some good James Bond car scenes. Bond chases may not have as much pure action as others, but the cars and characters are very memorable. (The Lotus car/sub, the Aston DB5, the BMW 740 that's controlled by a cell phone [thumbsup])
i know its a little off topic- but the foot chase in the beginning of Casino Royale was pretty badass!

Not the lame CGI 2000 version.
Not really a car chase but the scene from the first Tomb Raider movie with Angelina Jolie on the monster dark. It was the first time I had ever seen a monster and it made me fall in love with them.
Besides Jolie is hot as hell (IMO) so that helped too.

I just quoted yours to note that the Anarchy Burger sig line is awesome. [thumbsup]
I'm also in voting for Bullitt, Italian Job, Ronin, and, even though it's not a CAR chase, the Steve McQueen run on the bike in The Great Escape is awesome too.
Pfftt....
Vanishing Point, FTW.

1st Tomb Raider it was advertised as a Monster dark 900. Theater had one in the lobby and a poster of her on it. I always thought the scene in her garage was the monster but it was dark so it was hard to tell.

Bullit
What was the name of the film with Dennis ??? driving the dodge sedan being chased by the semi that's trying to run him of the road ???
Yes I saw Vanishing Point and Bullit in a movie threater when the first came out, so my memory isn't what it used to be. [cheeky]
I really liked the movie Death Proof there are a couple bad ass chase scenes in there plus the Aussie stunt woman that rides the car is the shit.

I LOVE the chases in the Bourne movies. The one in the 1st one is a good ad for wearing proper gear while on the moto!

How they went about making this movie makes it that much better. All the cars were owned by the director, producer and lead star (all one person). Most to the movie was filmed on public streets without permits. Only one Mustang was used and abused in the movie.
Bullit. I learned to double clutch after watching that movie and was ths scourge of my neighborhood after that. The chase in "To Live and Die in L.A." was pretty darn good too.
[thumbsup] Vanishing Point and Bullit
Taken had a good chase scene.
Bullitt!
two lane blacktop
Beyond doubt ..... Lt. Frank Bullitt in "Bullitt". Didn't McQueen drive both the Mustang and the bike that was in the scene at one point or something to that effect? Where the bike slides out, the action stopped and McQueen get into the car the the cameras roll again. I don't know, that was a long time ago.
Bud Ekins did a lot of the Mustang driving I believe.
Honorable mention goes to Vanishing Point.

The mini van chase / Martial spat from Mr & Mrs Smith had it's moments. " these sliding doors are conveniet" [laugh]
