Title: Internet Radio
Post by: metallimonster on March 05, 2009, 05:43:21 AM
So I finally got a new job.  Didn't want to make a big deal about it since it is a temp to hire and I'm not hired yet.

Anyways I can't use Yahoo Music (which I loved) or Pandora since they are blocked.  I MUST have music at work and listening to local radio stations sucks because of the commericials and I'm limited to only 2 stations.

Any one have any other suggestions for a internet radio player where I can pick my favorites and listen to all kinds of different music?  I saw Slacker Radio but didn't know if it was any good.  Any suggestions help.

I love slacker.  They also have a personal music player that can you can download like 25 hours of 5 different stations, then listen off-line.  Yeh, don't stream at work.

Our office is setup differnetly than most and everyone that works here streams in music of some sort. Personally, I like radio.aol.com, there's plenty to choose from and it's got a downloadable toolbar. However, I'd wait untill you get hired to start doing something like that. But that all depends on what it is that you're doing.

Thanks for the info guys.  I think I am just going to ask and leave it at that.  I am currently an AP Cordinator for a large medical supplier but I was approached by their tax dept. yesterday to move up to a full-time Sales/Use Tax posistion which would be awesome.

Where I used to work (sigh!) we burned all our personal CD's to the server hard drive (with IT's blessing) and used windoze media or real player to play the tunes thru the interweb. Worked well since you could make playlists off everybody elses music.

I work from home now as a consultant and still play tunes that are burned to my HD more often than not. Since Sirus will be charging for internet radio next week, I'll be doing it even more than way.

Looks like I am going over to do Sales/Use next week.  It is really weird how things work out.  I took this job to just have some income and hated it because it is only data entry.  Now a week later I am stoked because sales/use is what I've been trying to find during my job search.  Hopefully it brings more money with the new position.
