Title: What's up with the old site? Post by: psycledelic on March 07, 2009, 03:34:21 AM I have been cruisin the net trying to find some exhaust info and have tried a couple of links to the old site. I keep getting that the site is corrupt. I tried to go directly and got the same error. Have I just been super banned or did all of the flickering and flashing from the advertisements finally kill it?

Have I just been super banned or did all of the flickering and flashing from the advertisements finally kill it? The internet gnomes finally realized that VS is, indeed, corrupt. Have I just been super banned or did all of the flickering and flashing from the advertisements finally kill it? Yup, page won't load...got a corrupt error. Poetic justice. Title: Re: What's up with the old site? Post by: needtorque on March 07, 2009, 04:39:45 AM I have not been able to get it to load for months. I finally got some info that a firewall somewhere was blocking it but it must be one built in by my ISP b/c my firewalls are off. Either that or the old site does not like vista.
Title: Re: What's up with the old site? Post by: Oldfisti on March 07, 2009, 05:02:31 AM Same here...
The encoded file /usr/sites/ducatimonster.org/www/htdocs/forums/includes/scirev_init.php is corrupt. Title: Re: What's up with the old site? Post by: Speedbag on March 07, 2009, 08:10:13 AM VS took over a V-Rod site I used to enjoy, now it locks up all the time not to mention the flashing ads spark off my Tourette's.
Title: Re: What's up with the old site? Post by: superjohn on March 07, 2009, 08:33:52 AM There;s an old site? ???
I must have blocked it from my memory. Title: Re: What's up with the old site? Post by: Goat_Herder on March 07, 2009, 11:51:04 AM There;s an old site? ??? I must have blocked it from my memory. I must have joined after the fact. So what's the back story with the "old site"? Title: Re: What's up with the old site? Post by: Slide Panda on March 07, 2009, 11:59:56 AM I must have joined after the fact. So what's the back story with the "old site"? Long story short: The Old Boad (ToB) aka the DML was what the DMF is. The DML was purchased by a corporation Vertical Scope. VS promised to only make some minor changes blah blah... Well, they lied. The DML was plastered with ads all over, even in posts. They started a censorship program, editing or deleting things that people said that VS didn't like. VS also started blocking links (at 1st links to here) and then they went so link block crazy, they were even blocking links out to ther boards THEY owned. Basically... they ruined ToB. So of the folks from there (aka our 'Flounders') got together and created this broad. The bulk of folks left ToB and came here. Title: Re: What's up with the old site? Post by: Keld on March 07, 2009, 12:02:55 PM Just tried; got this:
The encoded file /usr/sites/xxxxxxxxxxx.org/www/htdocs/forums/includes/scirev_init.php is corrupt. [moto] [drink] [bacon] The x'es is there not to give them higher rates on Google. The video version: VS headquarters on the DML (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FV7bSXSkOI8#lq-hq) P.S. If you're interested, the TOB blew up in May (the 5th IIRC). If you go back and look at the dates on this board, you'll see that it was being prepared for five or six months in advance, just in case it was necessary. Title: Re: What's up with the old site? But yeah folks knew 'the man' was coming an set to work to on this board Ahhh, Chipos little film dub. ;D Title: Re: What's up with the old site? Title: Re: What's up with the old site? Post by: Old-Duckman on March 14, 2009, 06:21:04 AM I haven't read this entire thread, so I may be repeating someone else...
I was a member of TOB, read posts about the VS aquisition and was bummed. Saw a post here and there linking to this new board, joined and have been pleased with its growth and quality. I think the transition and the DMF is somthing we should all be proud of. It shows brotherhood, determination (by those who actually did the nuts 'n' bolts work to get it going) and a bit of the "stick it to the man" attitude ! Those qualities have been associated with motorcycles and motorcyclists for decades. A well deserved pat on the back to us all.............. Title: Re: What's up with the old site? Post by: ScottRNelson on March 20, 2009, 05:01:54 AM As one of the original members of the DML (before the board it was a email list) I have witnessed its birth and death. The original Micapeak e-mail list is still around. There isn't a lot of traffic on it, but there are 10-15 regular posters there and quite a few more who occasionally have something to say. I was about #10 or 11 to sign on to the old forum. I'm sure I posted something during the first month of this list, the DMF, about what it was like "in the olden days". I still occasionally wonder if Daffe still rides or gave it up completely.Title: Re: What's up with the old site? Post by: Mother on March 20, 2009, 05:16:10 AM wasn't Daffe an MD?
