Title: 4 Valve Billet Coolant Bottle Cap Post by: phierce on March 10, 2009, 12:45:53 PM Anyone found a billet coolant bottle cap for the 4 valvers?

Title: Re: 4 Valve Billet Coolant Bottle Cap Post by: DucHead on March 11, 2009, 08:13:09 AM Ok I'll ask. Why? Well, I can't answer this question, but I do wish I could re-locate the overflow bottle without removing the airbox. On the other hand, a less hideous overflow bottle would be nice too. Bling, why else?Title: Re: 4 Valve Billet Coolant Bottle Cap Post by: Bill in OKC on March 11, 2009, 02:23:35 PM Well, I can't answer this question, but I do wish I could re-locate the overflow bottle without removing the airbox. I relocated my overflow tank and have been watching the coolant level. It does not expand nearly as much as the stock tank allows for. I've been looking for an even smaller tank - and the one I have is maybe half as large as the stocker. It barely fills up the hose, let alone filling the tank... it is not summer yet but I've seen high 180s on the temp gauge. To my knowledge, my overflow bottle was put to use once -- when I underfilled the radiator. Makes it lighter (tiny bit). Makes it look cleaner. I get those things :) Title: Re: 4 Valve Billet Coolant Bottle Cap Post by: Bill in OKC on March 11, 2009, 08:34:46 PM I'm using a black/black one of these for the time being http://www.advancedperformanceaccessories.com (http://www.advancedperformanceaccessories.com) ->product overview -> coolant tank system
Motion pro makes a nicer one with a screw top but it is larger http://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/partno/11-0025 (http://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/partno/11-0025) I found a small square HRC tank on ebay but it just doesn't fit in anywhere . So far the black one works for me. There is no lid on it to unscrew so it is empty when the bike starts, catches whatever pushes past the cap and returns it as the bike cools down. I've never seen it get high enough to show in the sight tube and the radiator is always full when it has cooled - had to add a little coolant the first 2 or 3 rides to get it working. I am thinking about trying a Brembo front brake reservoir... Title: Re: 4 Valve Billet Coolant Bottle Cap Post by: DucHead on March 12, 2009, 03:37:37 AM Thanks Bill!
I wonder if the bottle would fit behind the CF radiator shroud on the right side of my bike? Could you give me the dimensions of your overflow bottle? ... I am thinking about trying a Brembo front brake reservoir... Holy crap! What's that hold...40 mL? :o Title: Re: 4 Valve Billet Coolant Bottle Cap Post by: phierce on March 12, 2009, 06:24:41 AM Thanks Bill! What kind of rad shrouds you runnin'? It will fit directly behind the radiator on the right side if I either move the right fan, or remove it. Does anyone think it would be harmful to run with a single fan? Mine only come on at 215° F, and the bike doesn't often get to that temperature. What kind of rad shrouds you runnin'? DP Yup. PM sent. Title: Re: 4 Valve Billet Coolant Bottle Cap Post by: pigmy on March 12, 2009, 10:28:13 AM maybe a bottle like mine.i think it came from a 125 honda moto x.you could probably bolt it to the side of original airbox. thats all i did here.(http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3640/3349799670_3379ff69b5.jpg) just go down to local wreckers and try to find something similar that might go between tank and airbox. That's a great idea, but there is less than 1" between the inside of my tank and the airbox. Title: Re: 4 Valve Billet Coolant Bottle Cap Post by: DucHead on March 21, 2009, 06:47:22 PM OK, I ordered and installed the overflow bottle from here (https://ssl.perfora.net/www.advancedperformanceaccessories.com/sess/utn;jsessionid=1549c5a62908e13/shopdata/index.shopscript). Thanks for the recommendation Bill!!
I cut this crude bracket which isn't visible with the cover in place (cover bolt holds the bracket in place): (http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d147/pompino/DSCN2315.jpg) Much better without the OEM overflow bottle: (http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d147/pompino/DSCN2316.jpg) Title: Re: 4 Valve Billet Coolant Bottle Cap Post by: Alexandre on March 21, 2009, 07:06:28 PM OK, I ordered and installed the overflow bottle from here (https://ssl.perfora.net/www.advancedperformanceaccessories.com/sess/utn;jsessionid=1549c5a62908e13/shopdata/index.shopscript).
