How do you eat a lot of meat? I went to Green Field last night for my birthday and got sick after only nibbling on some 12 pieces of meat. I was still hungry but I just suddenly felt like I was gonna puke when I stuck a piece of meat in my mouth. I thought I was gonna play it smart and eat just a little bit of the random salad bar stuff they had and then fill up on meat but I just hit a wall. What do you do to eat a lot of meat? Alternate with pasta or salad?
What?
Sorry, but that makes no sense.........
You can't decide to just do it one day. It's a lifestyle. When you find yourself eating a pound of [bacon] 'cause it's snacktime, you will then be up to speed.
Well, for anyone that doesn't know, Green Field is a Brazilian bbq place. They just keep bringing meat to your table and then there's also a salad bar. After the first couple pieces I decided to eat a bite or two of each piece and then go back and eat more of the ones I liked so that I could taste more of them. After the 12th piece came I suddenly felt sick when I stuck it in my mouth and couldn't eat any more meat. After a little while just the smell of the meat started to make me feel sick too. :'(
Is there some trick to eating a lot of meat in one sitting or am I just weird?
Oddly enough I can eat a pound of steak no problem, but this I just couldn't do. Don't know why...

Maybe there was a seasoning on it that you are allergic to?

Why would you want to?
Maybe your body is trying to tell you something. :P

The food was dry and not very good last night and my sister said it was probably just a slow/off night. I'd like to go back and try more of the meats they have but it's a waste of $30 if I can only eat 12 bites of meat.
A good Brazilian steakhouse is [bacon] [bacon] [bow_down] [bow_down]
Eating salad at a Brazilian steakhouse is just...dumb. :P You go there to eat meat, with good homemade salsa on it.
Yes...you're wierd...that or the food sucked! ;D
Triple J, is El Gaucho Brazilian? Damn, that place is good.
when food is overly dry, overcooked, or not tasty i can't stomach it either.
you jsut had an off night.
it happens to every guy. it's ok.
we'll try again later.

No...it's just a good steakhouse.
A Brazilian Steakhouse typically has a price fixe (sp?) menu. You pay say $30, and you get 7 courses of meat. It usually consists of sausages, duck, chicken, lamb, and 2-3 types of beef...it varies a bit. The meat is brought out on skewers straight from the grill and sliced onto your plate one at a time, with time given to eat each type. The process can take an hour or more to get through all 7. At the end you can usually ask to have more of any of the meats, so it is effectively all you can eat.
Typically they make a brazilian salsa to put on the meat...it isn't hot, but just tastes great. There are a few other sides, like fried bananas, small salad, etc...but it's all about the meat.
This is the only one I know of in our area...and I've never eaten there. It's right by work, but going to a place like this for lunch kills the rest of the day when the food hangover sets in.

Yollies Brazilian Steakhouse in Las Vegas is the one I've eaten at. I used to go there in High School and eat until I was about sick. [laugh] It is insanely good.

"how can you have pudding if you dont eat your meat"
ask Linda Lovelace
they are called churrascurias.
The best I've been to is Plataforma in NYC. You have a little sign at your plate, one side has a green circle, the other has a stop sign. As long as the green circle is up, when the waiter comes around with the rolling carving cart, you are getting some.. Each portion is 4-6 oz unless you ask for more/less.
Prix fixe -- you pay one price which includes the buffet (veggies and stuff) but pay extra for the cai pirinhas made at your table..
We have one similar.
Just not consistant. Sometimes it's been great, other times, not so great.

But sir, it's merely a wafer thin mint.
There was this place in the Gaslamp in S.D. that was a Brazilian BBQ and it was AWESOME. Suck it up and EAT MEAT! Salad? Really?
Went to one in Florida called Texas de Brazil
It was pretty good
There's one here that is so good, I would consider eating my full, vomiting, then returning for seconds, all for the joy of eating said deliciousness.

Chain to me always equates bad, but this place was good, meat was tasty

If they take off I bet the quality starts to fall

wow... how do you know about Newark?
I was just about to drop the info on the Ironbound section of Newark. The best kept secret in NJ. My favorite rodizio down there is a place called Fernandez. There are tons of great places in Newark if you are in the right hood.

Churrasco's in Houston is good, although they are a local "chain" - 4 locations, I think.
i thought it was called "Green Forest"
at least that's what it is here.
I love those places. I went to one w/ a couple of other guys and it turned into a contest to see who would flip their card to red 1st. No idea how much we ate but I had 12 lamb chops plus multiples of everything else and ended up more full than the time ingested a 30oz steak w/ all the fixins. You know you've eaten enough meat when you wake up w/ night sweats :)
