Title: SMF Connection Errors
Post by: jdubbs32584 on March 15, 2009, 11:03:25 PM
I've been getting these errors lately:

"Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later. "

I just got one even though the forum doesn't seem to be very busy at the moment.

I'm not tech enough to help directly, but I'll try to help.

OS, browser?
Have you cleared cookies and such?

Thanks Nick.

Firefox, Windows XP.

I've cleared cookies. I'll try again though.

That's the extent of my DMF web-tech expertise.  :P

I get them very occasionally also.

I don't think it's a software issue, but a server issue, and I don't mess with it. It's Daryls' domain.

When there is an error I usually get an email that smf spits out. I haven't gotten any since your OP.

I think the server thinks it is actually busy in the sense that something is going on in the server farm at the time.
