Title: [SYD & Surrounds] Ozmo Ride Sat. 4th April - Bathurst Post by: Betty on March 16, 2009, 09:05:15 PM Just to make sure it gets the attention it deserves. This seems to be the plan, is it not?
How about - start at windsor - bells line of road - oberon - bathurst those who want to bale here can, and go back via the highway... OR - taralga - goulburn - illawarra hwy / mq pass (down it for a change) - mt keira - home all up around 600kms / 9 hours + breaks - a good touring day... linky link of the big trip (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=126+Windsor+Rd+Mcgraths+hill&daddr=Great+Western+Hwy+to:-33.717486,150.001831+to:Conrod+Strt+to:Macarthur+St+to:Illawarra+Hwy+to:Mount+Keira+Rd+to:The+Boulevarde,+Kirrawee+NSW+2232&hl=en&geocode=%3BFdwQAf4dpOLyCA%3B%3BFS59Af4dWhLqCA%3BFeoQ8_0daBnuCA%3BFbCs8P0dlOD6CA%3BFeD78v0dc839CA%3B&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=2&sz=10&via=1,2,3,4,5,6&sll=-33.545973,150.117188&sspn=0.628365,1.235962&ie=UTF8&ll=-33.861293,150.545654&spn=2.5042,4.943848&z=8) and I also call that the ride is on, rain hail or shine! Title: Re: [SYD & Surrounds] Ozmo Ride Sat. 4th April - Bathurst Post by: Betty on March 16, 2009, 09:44:27 PM Can't see us doing the extension as it would probably add 4 hours or so for us. Is the plan to have lunch in Bathurst or will the 'splinter group' be short on time if that was the case?
Is 9:00 too late for a start time? Or too early? To partially cover my laziness I am claiming ignorance on the specifics of the route, etc and I don't know how long will be spent getting to the various 'points of interest'. Should we also start a list of interested parties, so we know what we are dealing with: Jukie (short loop) Betty (short loop) ... and what Trev said (what time, where?) Title: Re: [SYD & Surrounds] Ozmo Ride Sat. 4th April - Bathurst Post by: mattyvas on March 16, 2009, 10:22:16 PM Let's say 8:30 at Maccas Windsor Road at the Ettamoga pub for a 9am departure.
Heading out through Richmond up Bells Line to Lithgow and on to Bathurst via Jenolan Caves. Lunch, lap of the Mountain and then on with the Arvo ride home. Title: Re: [SYD & Surrounds] Ozmo Ride Sat. 4th April - Bathurst Post by: craigo on March 16, 2009, 11:13:42 PM I'm in for sure!

We provide local forecasts and check the BOM (http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR033.shtml) and then a call is made and if it's off it will get posted here or people sync via SMS. It generally tends to work fairly well. If it's clearly wet it's generally off for most.

BOM radar shows the clouds moving across where we are headed ... but, shit! It could have cleared though in 4 hours ... I'm remaining positive. EDIT: The forecast on Yahoo Weather seems to have improved from last night too. Title: Re: [SYD & Surrounds] Ozmo Ride Sat. 4th April - Bathurst Post by: wayne800 on April 03, 2009, 10:55:26 AM Yes BOM radar is now showing rain @ the central coast but heading east.
Central west and to the south looks clear & winds are meant to come in from the south west. If you're coming from the central coast you will probably get a bit wet at first but I'm inclined to say yes to the ride - what say you Andy? Are you still up for it? [moto] Title: Re: [SYD & Surrounds] Ozmo Ride Sat. 4th April - Bathurst Post by: craigo on April 03, 2009, 12:01:20 PM It's been raining all night in castle hill as well, but it looks OK this morning.
(http://mirror.bom.gov.au/radar/IDR551.gif?20090404055005) BOM looks decent. It's a coin toss. I'll be a the the Caltex at 8:30, I guess we can make a call from there [coffee]. I think that the rain has passed and that once the roads dry up later this morning we should be sweet. I'll look into my suspension setup tomorrow and try and eliminate the wicked head shake i have. Good to see you had a good time today would have liked to be there :'( More than likely the head shake is caused by the organic matter between the handlebars and the seat ;D Title: Re: [SYD & Surrounds] Ozmo Ride Sat. 4th April - Bathurst Post by: wayne800 on April 04, 2009, 12:43:27 AM Dude from the west gets "carded" at Mt Panorama
(http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3645/3410645361_281957dc5c.jpg) Have a good trip back to WA mate & don't forget to pass word about OzMonster. Title: Re: [SYD & Surrounds] Ozmo Ride Sat. 4th April - Bathurst Post by: mattyvas on April 04, 2009, 01:27:30 AM Cool a carding to WA.
Glad you all had a good day out [moto] Sorry I wasn't there to meet you SG, glad there were a few there to represent. Going out for a little blat tomorrow morning, Park, Pie Shop and home with a certain Mr G Fish. Title: Re: [SYD & Surrounds] Ozmo Ride Sat. 4th April - Bathurst Post by: Betty on April 04, 2009, 01:57:38 AM Leaving now. ... and we just got back - which makes it a pretty long day. Weather was great ... not a drop of rain all day! Good to meet you SG maybe next time you will be accompanied by the little Aprillia. Missed the conversation about the headshake ... my very low tech offerings: too much tyre pressure or too much right hand [evil] ?? It was a day for the little bikes today ... 1 x 620, 3 x S2R 800s, 1 x S2R 1000 and then the S4R (first half). ... and it was nice to meet up with Aiden/Hayden (name?/sp?) from WA. He could probably show a thing or two to you well 'ard riders talking up your recent touring exploits and how you were going to make today an extra long one ... and none of you turned up [cheeky] Stopped off on the way home to pick up Lillie's blue slip :) Hopefully she will be on the road by Easter :) ... and I have just been reminded that if you didn't turn up today you missed out on a little unveiling ... Title: Re: [SYD & Surrounds] Ozmo Ride Sat. 4th April - Bathurst Post by: goldFiSh on April 04, 2009, 02:18:17 AM .... and none of you turned up [cheeky] Yeah, but we all had good differing reasons, unlike Mr Sugar T (funny that there was no rain!) :P. sounds like we missed out on a good day. That photo of the dude on the SC coming from WA, man I hope he has risers on that thing. He'd be up there with bigiain on the iron-butt stakes! I also liked the 10L of fuel strapped to the back! Title: Re: [SYD & Surrounds] Ozmo Ride Sat. 4th April - Bathurst Post by: craigo on April 04, 2009, 02:45:43 AM I told you all it wouldn't rain [thumbsup] and it didn't. except for that bit along bells line for about 20Kms where we rode through a CLOUD and visibility was reduced to 25 metres. Was good to meet Wayne (wayne800) and Glen (serious groper). Not sure what the deal was with the headshake you were talking about Groper. Betty we checked tire pressures at Lithgow and they were fine. Guessing Competition! Tell me what is unusual on the S2R in the front of this shot: (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3400/3411586758_fdd76886b4.jpg?v=0) Title: Re: [SYD & Surrounds] Ozmo Ride Sat. 4th April - Bathurst Post by: Betty on April 04, 2009, 02:46:43 AM Yeah, but we all had good differing reasons, unlike Mr Sugar T (funny that there was no rain!) :P. sounds like we missed out on a good day. I actually missed your good excuse Goldie. As for the guy on the SC ... can't say I really looked at the front (found the back more interesting), but pretty sure there were no risers - he said it was all stock except the termis. He said everything gets transferred straight to his arm and up into his shoulder ... something I think 748s can vouch for nowadays. I had joked that he just needs to add more luggage to improve the required posture ;D As for the fuel ... invaluable I would say, apparently the SC achieves [roll] similar mileage to the Monsters - not much fun for crossing the Nullarbor and the like. That's cause I didn't share it with you ;D Anyone who's had a pregnant partner will know what I'm talking about. MMmmmm I detect some new stopping power has been applied........ [thumbsup] and maybe the calipers that don't appear to be black anymore [thumbsup] Title: Re: [SYD & Surrounds] Ozmo Ride Sat. 4th April - Bathurst Post by: Betty on April 04, 2009, 03:07:13 AM ;D [moto] 8) [thumbsup]

[laugh] (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3214/3411667928_cbc9888409.jpg?v=0) (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3391/3411667854_72778aa672.jpg?v=0) (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3147/3411667796_a29e549ea6.jpg?v=0) what are the calipers and have you also done the masters? I believe the calipers are off a 999 (before they went radial) ... 4 pad, 4 piston ... ooh and they're silver :D No I haven't done the masters which was part of my cunning plan to tone down the calipers. I believe I got the compromise I was looking for to counter my ham-fisted approach to braking. Title: Re: [SYD & Surrounds] Ozmo Ride Sat. 4th April - Bathurst Post by: Jukie on April 04, 2009, 11:44:48 PM yes a bit late but had a fantastic day out, meet my new mate from WA and we all wish him a safe ride home. Had some good food, and best of all
NO RAIN. Then today went out again to Wiseman's Ferry with the NDDOC. we meet up with a red 696, had no cards but Betty told he were he can find us. TWO great rides in 2 days BRILLANT. Title: Re: [SYD & Surrounds] Ozmo Ride Sat. 4th April - Bathurst Post by: Serious Groper on April 05, 2009, 06:18:39 PM Not sure what the deal was with the headshake you were talking about Groper. Betty we checked tire pressures at Lithgow and they were fine. A bike shouldn't shake like a shitting dog at 120 when you hit a small bump. 180 i can understand. Even guys with the Ohlins 'S' model are reporting the same thing. I looked around online and it seems to be related to the rear height of the bike. I'll get a shop to raise it slightly and hopefully that will get it sorted. If not, i'll chuck a tantrum, give it to my wife and buy something else. Woo hoo, bike shopping again ;D Title: Re: [SYD & Surrounds] Ozmo Ride Sat. 4th April - Bathurst Post by: Jukie on April 05, 2009, 10:05:19 PM Glen i hope it works out fine for you, and next time bring the missus.
