Title: moto-only
Post by: ♣ McKraut ♣ on May 15, 2008, 04:57:24 AM
to try and help make fastwin feel a bit better about the state of the board, i wanted to create a thread about things *only* related to motorcycles.  people can be threadjackers or be random or spazzes about posting in here, but ONLY as long as what you're saying is completely related to motorcycles.  questions, comments, observations, pondering, short posts, long posts, "look what mod i did to my bike last night when i was drunk" posts, whatever...it *MUST* be related to motorcycles.

i'll start.

so...i'm thinking that the 900SS i bought came with full floating rotors, stock.  the guy recently changed to regular non-floating rotors though when he replaced the rotors.  i'm wondering if he just didn't know/care?  and i'm also wondering what exactly dictates being able to install full floating rotors on a bike?  are the calipers different on bikes that come with non-floating rotors?

No, accordinding to hiero (david), see the bike prep thread.  he explains it in there.

Also, besides doing fluid bleeds (all), tires (both), sprockets (both), chain, rear rotor, and rear pad, is there anything else I should consider prior to the HC ride?

Just talked to the painter and he is pretty packed but said the tank will be ready on Monday!

I'd get those tires scrubbed in a bit, just in case you run into some rain (knock on wood).  Last time I tracked my SV at Cresson was during the rain with shiny fresh tires...  I don't recommend it.  One good ride should be enough to fling most of that crap out of the tire, no need to push it though.

just my 2c...

[THREADJACK]

Does anyone have a brake bleeder?  I don't need one yet, but probably will in a week or so.  An offer to lend a brake bleeder, along with instructions (or an operator) will be met with a counter offer of beer.

I have a brake bleeder (Mity-Vac) you can use man.  Just let me know when you want to swing by and pick it up.

LYD....rear brakes....who uses rear brakes?

Thank you Swanny!  I'll give send you a PM when it gets a little closer to me needing it.  I just repaired the rear end of the bike, and tomorrow I'll start on the front end, and only after the new reservoir gets here I'll need to bleed anything...

thanks again,

André

I would go over all your bolts to make sure they're snug, especially kickstand, rearset, engine case cover, and the little set washers on your clutch and brake actuation rods...

O.K., different topic:

Has anyone put the Pazzo clutch and brake levers on a M620 before?  I've got 'em on the SBK and love it; thinking about doing the same thing with the Monster 620 BUT it has that weird APC clutch switch gadget in the lever housing *I think* so the Pazzo levers may be incompatible...

Or I could just be totally confused.  Again.  (See, this is the problem with strictly moto-related posting...)

Anyone?   ;D

yeah, you can short the wires together, but I'm pretty sure the pazzos have accomodations for the switch... but yeah, short em together if not...

Thanks - that's a good price.  That would probably fit your bike.  You can't have a cool slipper clutch without a TTX!
