Title: Songs that you can't play loud enough
Post by: MrFryMoto on March 17, 2009, 08:25:30 AM
you know those songs that no matter how loud you play it, you just can't rock out hard enough?

I may have blown out my car speakers on the way to work listening to Tool's "H."
but it was worth it...

what is your destroyer of stereos?

as iw as compiling thislist i realized there is just too much that i will crank the volume for when it comes on. here's what popped into my mind right away

Deftones - all of it

Metallica - anything from the black album and earlier. i'm not going to list the ones from later albums because it would take too long right now.

Pantera - anything from vulgar or cowboys

Slayer -  everything

Dropkick Murphy's - damn near everything

i have noticed a tendency to get an evil, agressive streak when metallica and dropkick are playing and then start to look for a fight or something to break. (besides my eardrums)

+1 on the No Quarter cover.
I also once Tool cover Ted Nugent's Stranglehold (Astroarena, about '95). Seems like it would be strange, but it was INCREDIBLE.

The Jonas Brothers. Oh wait, that's the 14 year old...

I wrecked some cheap stock speakers in the car with this one, another DKM tune for the holiday.

Dropkick Murphys - The Gauntlet (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zY-NSF0Boyo#lq-lq2-hq-vhq)

Back when I raced bicycles, I had the line "STAND UP AND FIGHT, AND I'LL STAND UP WITH YOU" printed out and taped on the stem of my race bike for inspiration.

And while I'm not a huge follower of modern dance/trance stuff, I found myself cranking this up until I felt it the other day (and I really like the movie -- with this or with Phillip Glass):

Anything Metallica from and justice back.  Nothing after justice.  (although I am trying to like death magnetic but not really working too well)

Most anything Ozzy or black sabbath.

I first heard Chris Duarte when he was up in NH in '90.  I've been a fan ever since.  I just saw him live a few weeks ago.  He literally played until his finger bleed, put on some duct tape, and kept going.  Incredible.
