Title: Pics and comments on tank protection from knee rub.
Post by: DucRS on March 17, 2009, 04:59:13 PM
After 4k miles of riding, I'm noticing obvious damage on tank from my knees rubbing. What do you guys use to remedy the issue? I've heard of different types of grips and pads but would like to see how they look on a Monster and maybe get a bit of feedback on pro's and con's.     Thanx

i have the mag-knight full wrap around.  protects the back and knee cut-outs.
highly recommended if you have an older steel tank.

FYI- there are two different tankslapper vinyl materials avail
the 'tankslapper' vinyl is thinner and clings to your tank with no adhesive. easy to take on/off (also doesnt work on matte paint)

there is also a 3M material that is thicker and goes on with self-adhesive. removable, but cant be re-applied.

Those are a badge of honor, proving that you are not a "hangar queen". Like fine leather finally breaking in.

uh oh,

I ordered the non-permanent ones for my 620 Dark.  Well we'll see if they work or not.

I had the 3M Permanents on my Ninja 900 and they looked great b/c they were invisible and offered great protection. I guess I'll wait and see what happens with these other ones.

I use StompGrip. At the time I purchased however they did not have a specific kit for my tank so I had to cut a generic kit. (I didn't do a great job). The product works very well, I didn't get it for tank protection so much as a surface I could grip with my knees.
