Title: ECU Price? Couple other questions Post by: Clickjack on March 18, 2009, 08:23:33 AM Looks like I may be buying a very low miles full termi system off of a board member in the next week or two. I'm assuming it either doesn't have the ecu or can't be used on my bike as it has seen time on another bike, no matter how brief.
What is the price of the appropriate ecu for the termi kit on a 2007 S4R T. ??? Is there a reason I couldn't run the pipes with the stock ECU, until I could afford one? A while back I was told 700.00. I can handle that. Though when I resently asked my dealer about the DP ECU he told me 1600.00. (more then I could do for quite a while). Anyone ever compare full termi vs. Full arrow/power commander? Thanks, and any other advice is welcome. Title: Re: ECU Price? (I think motowheels sells a reflash kit too) Title: Re: ECU Price? Couple other questions Post by: Clickjack on March 18, 2009, 09:07:03 AM How does it work?
What does it do compared to a new ecu or power commander? Will it void the warranty? Title: Re: ECU Price? Couple other questions Post by: hbliam on March 18, 2009, 09:44:10 AM I'm not sure when the "new" ECU deal started but I think you are part of the "old" ECU setup. Does your bike use the "red key"? If so that's the old setup. Those ECU's are non-interchangable after being mated to a bike. The new set up lets you move ECU's around and you can find the ECU's on ebay for a few hundred bucks. With what I suspect you have, the "old" setup, all you need to do is install a PC3 and have a custom map installed or built. The PC3 tricks your ECU into delivering more or less fuel, as appropriate. PC3 is about $300 with stock maps, a custom map runs about $250.

I can get a dynojet PCIII for right at 269.00. Would I still need another map? My dealer told me it couldn't be mapped or something like that, but that he thought the power comander was a good route, specially with the Arrows. Can you guys explain open loop and closed? Title: Re: ECU Price? Couple other questions Post by: Mr Earl on March 18, 2009, 10:14:45 AM If the Termi system you're buying comes with a DP ECU, and if that DP ECU model is for your model of bike, and if the owner never "mated" the DP ECU to his bike, then you can use it on yours. Lots of ifs, but worth asking about.
Title: Re: ECU Price? Couple other questions Post by: TAftonomos on March 18, 2009, 10:16:31 AM It doesn't, the termi ecu is gone/being used. I PM'd him about it earlier, it's a 10 mile old used system sans ecu for $1200.
That termi exhaust btw has no provisions for an O2 sensor, so you'll need to do something about that. Nemisis or flash, or DP ecu. Guy I use for flashing made me an ECU that was originally from a S2R1000...works great on my 07. Since I can run the bike without the factory gauges now, IF you wanted a DP ecu I could sell mine to you....but it isn't going to be cheap either. Would be the gauges, lockset and ecu "combo" Title: Re: ECU Price? Couple other questions Post by: corey on March 18, 2009, 10:52:47 AM My bike has the red key. My understanding is the o2 sensor thing is part of the "new" style ECU and that the old "red key" ecu's don't have the o2 sensor to deal with. Is that right or wrong? Or is there some overlap in the last year or so? My hyper is no red key, with o2, and needs the new ecu, remap, or nemisis to work correctly with a full exhaust. I can also use the fatduc o2 tool to trick the sensor which i am told only affects the first 20% of throttle opening anyway. Title: Re: ECU Price?
