Title: Clutch Fluid - How do I bleed on M750
Post by: cack on March 20, 2009, 07:01:22 PM
Hi
Opened the box coffin clutch container and it was empty.  How do I bleed it?  I don't think I can squeeze it when the cover is off.

Do I open, fill, close.
Engage the lever, and open the screw at the bottom near the foot gear lever at the end of the line and close?  Then refill?

Thanks.

That is the basic procedure.  You will be doing a lot of bleeding if the reservoir is empty and you lost pressure.

Helpful hints:

Keep water and a rag handy in case of brake fluid spills.  Brake fluid and brakes don't like each other.
Keep the master cylinder as close to horizontal as possible.
Air likes to get trapped at the master.  There are two ways to alleviate this.
Bleed master by opening banjo bolt.
Back bleed, either remove slave and push piston back or inject fluid through the bleeder on the slave.
After bleeding, tie lever to grip over night.

Now for what you don't want to hear.  Brake fluid in your clutch system is not consumed, and the level in the reservoir rises with clutch wear.  That means the fluid is going somewhere (leaking), most likely the slave is the culprit.   Bleeding may work for a while if the leak is small.

look up ducatisuite.com they have a pretty good guide to bleeding there. have fun the clutch side is the most time consuming side.
