WoW! I like it. At least from this side.
what Engine? Its V-8 engines will reportedly be from the Cayenne, naturally aspirated (385 hp) and turbocharged (500 hp) versions of the 4.8-liter V-8, There are also rumors of the Cayenne's V-6 option being available as well as a top-of-the-range version of the block that powers the Porsche Carrera GT.

It's not great... but it could have been worse?
It kinda reminds me of the Hearstuar from Harold and Maude, in a good way.

terribly ugly :-X
ahh, brand dilution. Ain't it grand. Next they should make a Porsche subcompact, like the BMW 1 series. That'd really ice the cake
At least it's better than an SUV... at everything. ;)
I like Herald's E type JagHearst better.

Seriously. It's the 4 seater (okay, 2 + 1) sports car all others should be judged against.
BTW: This could be far worse. I mean they might make an SUV (oh wait) or a minivan.

BTW: This rumored minivan surfaced a few years ago (http://personal.inet.fi/surf/porschenet/text/fut_plan/varrera/index.html), it might still happen.

I'd love to be able to say, "It's the best $20 mil I ever spent."

I like it. The older I get, the more I like practical cars that also haul ass, like the M5. BMW seems to have veered more towards the luxury side of the sport-luxo continuum - it will be good to have some competition in that niche.
Also, brand dilution would be more like the 914 or the 924. Using the good Porsche name to sell something slower/cheaper. This looks like a 928 with four doors.

Exactly. I've always been a fan of the 5 series beemers and bought a 535I a long time ago.
But, if one evaluated the new M5 (V10) on looks alone, one might miss the whole point. I got a chance to drive one on a closed course test track at the BMW factory in Greenville, SC. make the beast with two backsing wow! An almost 200 mph, 4 or 5 place 500 hp grocery getter that handles as if it were glued to the pavement and maybe the most car performance available for the money ....... on the planet.
Form always follows function for me anyway. But after form .... function.

Its going to be powered by versions of the Cayenne engine. Modified V6, V8, and turbo V8 is what we are being told. There will be an all wheel drive version as well. It will sell very well and is intended to go after the big BMWs and Mercedes type cars. My dealership has several orders in a for them already. I may not be sold on the looks but all I see is a paycheck. Everybody talked bad about the Cayenne when it came out but they represent half of the cars we sell and service, so yes they do very well for Porsche. They should be fairly bulletproof too since they are using a proven engine design. They are currently using a modified Cayenne V8 in the RS Spyder. The trans will be the PDK setup that is currently in use in the sportscar line. I can't wait for them to get here.
Not me, rather have a Cayman S any day. [thumbsup]

Sadly I agree with you. Of any cars in the line up, the Cayman S is what does it for me. Especially the new one with the DFI engine. The GT3 also ranks up there in my book but it would be a hard choice between that and an optioned out Cayman S.

I agree. But Audi wins in this category with the 580 hp RS6 Avant. ;)

Na. The 928 was still sexy as hell. THIS is a 4 seater, hatch back that hauled ass.
