That would be lovely. I'd trade in my 696 in a heartbeat!

Beautiful  [thumbsup]
I knew it was possible to make a Ducatiesque 696.
But who the hell is Oberdan Bezzi ?
Is he just dreaming ? If he would be an official Ducati guy he would be sacked and sued by now leaking ideas  [clap]
I have to add I like his drawings better than all the real models too.
The Streetfighter looked a lot more lean and sexy than the Moloch it is now...
Lets hope Ducati will build this...its lovely and will make a lot of (old) people happy.

That bike with the 1100 DS engine would melt my butter

ok here i go again giving away a million dollar idea. so i got dibs on copyright and royalties.
someone just needs to make the front fairing for the 696 and you could have a 696 half faired SS style bike. well that and adding clipons.

But who the hell is Oberdan Bezzi ?

he is a conceptual artist who does motorcycle designs.. he doesn't just do ducatis, look at his website.

this bike would be a cool retro idea.  ducati could use the entry-level bike as a platform for various types of homage-bikes

but i doubt they will go "back" to making full trellis frames for their lower end bikes.

the Pantah 500SL in these would be a good one, but that front fairing would have to be a multipiece thing because it is pretty weird shaped if you look at the original bikes.

maybe a different set of cambelt covers to remember the original pantah style

exhaust doesn't work for me.  also, the P500 had a polished bare metal engine and chrome side covers

I dont see why its "RETRO" other than paint scheme... Its a drawing of a half faired supersport

The Pantah motor - (belt driven cams) replaced the Darmah ( gear driven)... yes?

Or am I living up to my full Bone-head potential [bang]

Exactly, but it wasn't just the Darmah, it was all the old bikes -- called bevels for the bevel gear drive.

The Pantah engine was the precursor to the current Desmodue.  There are many similarities.

you're right, it's basically a paint scheme, but the fairing shape is "reminiscent" of the Pantah 500.

which is all "retro" styled bikes are -- a flavor of the original.

I just noticed it has a 696 headlight too.

If this does come in to production, I hope they don't use the 696 headlamp. It would just look weird. Something along the lines of the headlamp from SS Ducs would look nice on it, but a bit more modernized. Or just a plain on round headlamp from the Sport Classics.

It's not coming to production any more than any of Oberdan Bezzi's other designs ever has..

QuoteOberdan Bezzi is a motorcycle designer over in Italy and he has a website devoted to some of his own designs which he does when he isn't turning out work for his clients. Over the months, he has built up a pretty impressive portfolio using bikes from a wide range of manufacturers as a base, sometimes modifying a current or past model, sometimes using just an engine and going from there. He's doesn't confine himself to street bikes, either, as some of his work is for off road scramblers and he even has quite a variety of scooter work out there.

He is just jerking himself off making occasionally cool looking bike drawings:

I think it would be a nice addition to the Sports Classic line....More so than the daring GT Touring model at least...
