Post by: mattyvas on March 25, 2009, 11:56:06 PM I have the cookie version but if it came to it again it's have a go at doing my own.
Or go for the CW version. Title: Re: The best tail chop? Post by: heatherp on March 25, 2009, 11:58:00 PM I've decided against a tail chop due to the fact that I wouldn't like having rain and dirt flicked all over my back when riding in the lovely victorian weather. ;D
Cairnsduc put up a good tutorial here: http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=19650.0 (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=19650.0) Title: Re: The best tail chop? Post by: Two dogs on April 12, 2009, 06:17:57 PM Just finished mine using comp werks , originally purchased the cookie1 but returned it as it doesn't provide a mount for the plate light
Bike looks great (reminds me of a stumpy tail blue heeler) and was really easy to do in around an hour If you have a workshop it would be easy to make your own and save $$$ Hope the [leo] don't pay it any attention Anyone had any issues in Oz with Mr plod and a tail chop? Title: Re: The best tail chop? Post by: mattyvas on April 12, 2009, 11:08:09 PM Never did have any trouble.
Had mine on for over a year it was all good. Will do my new bike and going to have a go a doing my own. Glad you went the chop, it really does clean up the tail of the Monster. Title: Re: The best tail chop? Post by: dragonworld. on April 12, 2009, 11:31:59 PM Just finished mine using comp werks , originally purchased the cookie1 but returned it as it doesn't provide a mount for the plate light Bike looks great (reminds me of a stumpy tail blue heeler) and was really easy to do in around an hour If you have a workshop it would be easy to make your own and save $$$ Hope the [leo] don't pay it any attention Anyone had any issues in Oz with Mr plod and a tail chop? Yep, at the Supers the [leo]'s were giving riders stick over "Fender Eliminators", booking them and taking photos of the alleged chop. [roll] These mods dont necessarily stop you from being pinged by speed cameras but they can cause you to avoid paying tolls on the tollways cos the cameras take your picture from rear/above, and because we still aint got front plates they cant ping us. ;D But of course the ONLY reason they are giving us grief over the eliminators is for safety reasons and would have absolutely NOTHING to do with aiding the Govts Privately run tollways to rip into the Victorian public some more?? Of course not! :o [evil] Title: Re: The best tail chop? Post by: mattyvas on April 13, 2009, 12:02:02 AM Well I can now say from experience the toll cameras always catch a chopped Monster!
And yes speed cameras too. Got a farewell fine from the 620 in my last week of ownership. As for the [leo] I had no problems at all at PI for WSBK but then I didn't stay down where most of the crowds and burnouts/wheelies/stoppies were being done in Cowes. We were down the road in San Remo area. That aside, I've never had a any [leo] look at me twice with a chopped tail. But then I also have been on a mild little 620 with [evil] loud pipes but either way, she is with a new owner now and a new bike will take it's chopped place soon. Title: Re: The best tail chop? Tried once. Unintentionally of course..... The rope held...... Hence I live to tell the tail :o Great pass time Feral...... [thumbsup] Title: Re: The best tail chop? Post by: Spider on April 16, 2009, 08:35:52 PM Wonder if people did the old "but motorcycling is SO dangerous" when Feral told them he was taking it up.....compared to jumping off cliffs.....it's almost sane!
Feral, tells us about what you bought for the cliffjumping and what it cost....I always like hearing about other sports....they (sports) are almost always expensive (boxing being a great exception!) Title: Re: The best tail chop? Post by: feral on April 16, 2009, 10:01:35 PM Spider Ive been ridding long before I started jumping my 1st bike was a RGV 250 I love 2 strokes had it for years then got rid of it then surfing and jumping and traveling it took my mate and me getting what we always wanted a Ducati he got his dream bike a 1098s all blinged up and I had to do the L's allover again so a 620 it was for me .
Spider Ive used the PM's $900 added $100 and have bought a wingsuit http://www.phoenix-fly.com/ (http://www.phoenix-fly.com/) It allows you to fly you still need a parachute to land you and it makes the jumping more deadly . wingsuits have killed 5 of my mates in the last 4 years . but I'm starting with beginner suit and will do many skydives before I jump it off a cliff as Australia has only 1 object a 1400 ft antenna in Victoria you can jump it from . When I get it I will post a pic bsbd feral P.S if any are wondering what bsbd means its an old skydiving term meaning "Blue Skies Black Death" saying our sport is beautiful and deadly at the same time Title: Re: The best tail chop? Title: Re: The best tail chop? Post by: mattyvas on April 18, 2009, 02:53:10 PM Yep I know all about that, see it very often.
You are doing 40kph in the school zone area and the 4WD taxi's are burning past you to get there in time to line up to pick up the kids! It's like, HEY Mother (as in Mum) not as in F*$@er, I'm doing 40kph for your kid why the hell aren't you! And I'm not a parent, have no intention of being one either but I'm looking out for yours so you should do the same. Title: Re: The best tail chop? how about painting most of that tail and just leaving a little CF showing? good work! Title: Re: The best tail chop? Post by: Two dogs on April 20, 2009, 07:40:50 PM Thanks Spider [thumbsup] ,
I had been looking for a red seat cowl but got this one really cheap and it kind of looks okay as I have a CF belly pan to match May spray it one day but more focused on more important mods ATM , next week it goes into Motorcycle weaponry for a suspension overhaul . Found a set of forks at a wrecker off a ST2 to upgrade the front end as I am heavy enough to get a lot of front end dive when hard on the brakes And matching up the rear with a heavier rear spring and maybe a re valve and if that is not enough an adjustable ride hight dog bone to lift the rear. I hope that is not necessary as it will open a can of worms due to the 14t causing enough geometry change to rub the swing arm. Title: Re: The best tail chop? I catch up with Q occasionally, haven't spoke to him in a few weeks since he lost his job. I heard t2t had reformed! Shit when did Matt lose his job its getting tight out there my mate with a 1098s just got retrenched he owes the bank 25G's for the balance of his beast. I had to do my L's so I bought a 620 but I'm going to make it very nice and after reading flight cycles 900 story I might do the same as I think I will have invested too much when I finish . bsbd feral got to admit I dropped off the modified car scene when I discovered bikes and then choc went all straightedge super serious hardcore fan, and we lost contact gradually.
