A new project in the garage as of last week, a 1961 Vespa GS:

It's rough (as you can see) but appears to be complete except for the aux fuel tank cap. Seems to have decent compression, too. [thumbsup]
The scooter was passed along to us by my partner Ann-Marie's dad, who bought it from a serviceman returning from Europe and had it on the road until about 1967 and then parked it. The deal is that it's going to go to our 14 year old daughter in a couple of years if and only if she's active and engaged throughout the entire restoration, not just the part where we pick paint colors (the part she's already fast-forwarding to). And, of course, if she learns to ride properly and wear the gear. Then this: [moto] [moto] [moto] -- that's me, Ann-Marie & Mia all on our Italian motos!
Great project and a great 2 wheel starter for your daughter.
I hope to do something similar for my daughter but she's only 8 so I have a little time left.
It definately needs some love. :(
Sounds like a great father-daughter bonding experience. [thumbsup]
awesome [thumbsup]
jealousy setting in :/
awesome project!
Awesome, awesome, awesome!!!
good luck and do a LOT of research first (before removing anything and definitely before buying anything (ask me how I know this... [roll]))
Awesome! I would so ride a classic scooter to and from work! Great find, have fun!

What a great idea to do that build with your daughter. Good Luck!
Glad you adopted it. Love the idea of involving your daughter in the restoration of what could be hers

No need to ask, I own a Benelli that teaches me this evrytime I go into the garage.
Nice scoot by the way
Looks like a very fun project!

Great machine. Hope she picks red :)
As far as I'm concerned resurrecting and using an old machine whether it's a scooter, motorcycle truck or old lathe or just anything from a bygone era is one of the most rewarding things you can do. If I had a magic wallet I could easily spend 18 hours a day out in my shop messing with old stuff.
