Title: Long Island: Gold Coast Motorsports-big ups!
Post by: Bones on March 27, 2009, 09:37:11 AM
So I just spoke with the service dept. at Gold Coast Motorsports in New Hyde Park in order to get a general price on a valve adjustment for my 620 i.e.

he's going on and on about what needs to be done and the breakdown of time for the job. long story short,  he finally said best case scenario: go in, no adjustment 2 hours $200,

worst case, every valve needs adjustment, 6 hours, $620.

has anyone dealt with these guys before? Is their service department trustworthy or should I just go somewhere else? I'm just getting a bad feeling about these guys.....

Maybe the better question is: who would you trust to do the valve adjustment in this area that is reasonable and competent?

thanks.

I know Scott personally. He's a good guy and a competent tech...and really fast.

I can't speak about their shop rates or policies.

I do parts business with Gold Coast because Danny is great. Professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He makes it painless for me in my business.

You might want to post in the NYMMC to get some local opinions.

If you want an independent shop there is ECS. european cycle services north of the city. I know Steve and Jay personally also. Again good guys and good techs.

And Shaun.
I didn't know Steve had brought another tech on board.

I'm sure he's good.

I think they are a good shop. Just brought my friends heavily modded SBK there. The only thing is that they are are strictly by the book and don`t like bikes that are modded by other shops and with non DP parts. He had some problems with the bike and they fixed the main one but didn`t want to tackle the other probs. It was too much of a liability and I don`t blame them for it. They do charge by the hour which is reasonably so as they need to get payed for their time. If you bring it there for a service they will do a good job.

OK, so maybe I should give Gold Coast a shot. I'm in central nassau, so Gold Coast would be the closest.

Thanks for your input, guys.

I wish ECS was closer since I've been hearing so many good things about them.

Anyone use chronic motorsports?

I had my service done at Chronic. I was happy with the job that was done. They are only ten minutes away from me so I go there for whatever I need. Nice guys there too.

Thanks for your input, guys.

I just s/w Brett and am taking my '02 620 in next Tuesday for valve adjustment and to check the computer settings (idle is a bit low,, might just be the valves or the TB or TPS needs to be adjusted).

I know a lot of you have asked to let them know about my experience there, so I'll let you know!!

As i stated in the NYMMC forum i can vouch for Gold Coast they just finished servicing my 1098 and had done previous warranty work on it.  The bike has never run better and their pricing was right in line with what ducati recommends.  Also as a costumer its the only shop i have been in so far that i feel appreciates you as a customer.  Too many shops on the island act like they are doing you a favor by working on your bike.  I can only say positive things about them  [thumbsup]  You are in good hands!

So I picked up my baby today from Gold Coast and she is running great. Only one valve adjustment was really off and they recalibrated the computer settings so she runs better than ever.

I'm very happy with how the counter guys took care of me and although I don;t know exactly who worked on my bike, he did an awesome job!
