Title: repeat hello for the local group.
Post by: b.b. on May 15, 2008, 01:36:54 PM
I'm Bill in Fort Worth.
Just purchased an 848 to enjoy before my back forces me to ride something more upright.
I haven't had a bike for almost 10 years, so it's been fun getting back into it.
I used to live in Japan and enjoyed riding there, but was quickly reminded of the lack of concern for bikes when I returned to the U.S.
As time went by I missed having a bike more and more, so I got over the worry. More importantly, talked my wife into getting over it...

Hi Bill, glad you could make it to lunch today.  That 848 is awesome (notice I said, "awesome"  and not "cute"  [laugh]  ).

Hope you can make it to some of our other informal get togethers - we're a hyperactive bunch so there's usually something bike-related going on.  If not, we'll just sit around here and BS all day long...

Ride safe.

Lisa

Bill,

Welcome to the board.  Great choice in bikes to get back into it after so long out of the saddle!  [thumbsup]

Looking forward to meeting you sometime and seeing your new "awesome" 848!

Yeah, the time was ripe for mischief making (that happens so rarely around here, you really have to be on your game to seize the momnet, as it were).   Next week, though, who knows what the avatar will be...

Thank you for the welcome notes. Sorry to take so long getting back to everyone, but work tends to get in the way of more interesting activities.

Charles actually rescued me from languishing in the apparently deceased MSM Ducati group. Thank you CDC!  ;D

My birthday is August, but the wife’s is September.

My 848 was called “cute” when I met Randy, since he’s a superbike guy.
But what I heard was…
“Man, you are one pathetic loser. No offense.” – Lloyd
None was taken..

I was in the Air Force, stationed at Yokota just outside of Tokyo, and Kadena in Okinawa. I spent 4 years at each location. It was a great experience for many reasons.

The riding was fantastic. Outside of the metro-area, there are plenty of great roads to ride. While in traffic, drivers watched for you and respected your space.

No track days this month, for the same reason it took so long to reply. I work for the Railroad and it’s a 24/7 operation. I do most of my riding during the week. If anyone else has an odd schedule or excess free time let me know.

This group has dubbed the white 848 a "white unicorn" so I guess that's cute too, but it's a beast on the track.  I just need to learn how to ride it harder out there.

One of my best friends (1st LT last I recall) was stationed out in Yakota for 4 years as well.  He just got back stateside just over a year ago.  I'm not sure if you guys spanned the same timeframe, but it is a small world.

yes, and just like in the legends, only the purest of mind, and especially of body, can tame the unicorn!!
