Title: bringing another rider into the Duc camp
Post by: FastAndLight on March 29, 2009, 06:00:44 PM
A good friend of mine just got back in the country and was itching to buy a new bike.  He has been riding for years and crashed bikes on a few continents.  He loves the cafe racer style, but wants something new and modern and just plain awesome.

We spent the morning looking at Triumphs.  The Thruxton in specific.  It is a really great looking bike and he was all about it.  After running our course at the Triumph dealership, I told him that another dealership was having an auction that day and if he didn't mind, I'd like to check that out.  Of course, this was a Ducati dealership.  The auction stuff wasn't particularly engaging, but after we walked back to the Ducati section he took about 2 heartbeats to fall in love with the SportClassic sport.  I know it isn't a monster, but it sure is close.  Right now he thinks he is going to buy it next weekend.

It felt good to be able to introduce another rider into the Ducati family.

You, Sir, are a bad influence... but I like the way you think!   [evil]

Nice job!   [thumbsup]

If I were young and pliable I'd love to  have one.  It's such a lean bike. If it doesn't make it stop or go it's not on the bike.  Termi kit and a 14tooth front sprocket are a must have pair of mods.

I bought a leftover '06 in April of last year and put over 7,000 miles on before it started snowing. Stoopid Maine winter.  >:(

Of course, now I'm waiting for the pieces to get back from the painter.  [evil]

Then its game on.

I'll start dropping those hints only after I have a new exhaust on my bike.  I can't let him outclass me for too long...
