Title: Tail Chop Poll Post by: amcloud on March 30, 2009, 08:43:32 AM I'm interested in both aesthetics and quality. Looking to purchase one or the other in the next week or two.
Thanks. Title: Re: Tail Chop Poll Post by: drew.bradshaw on March 30, 2009, 08:49:04 AM made my own :P
Title: Re: Tail Chop Poll Post by: herm on March 30, 2009, 09:42:25 AM competition werks is a good one.
so is the cookie tail chop. but its pretty easy to do yourself if you are the least bit handy Title: Re: Tail Chop Poll Post by: ute on March 30, 2009, 02:18:21 PM man do your own 15 min with an angle grinder and some 1/16 plate
Title: Re: Tail Chop Poll Post by: DucatiTorrey on March 30, 2009, 04:28:18 PM i keep hearing people saying this, dude, some of us don't have a metal shop in our garages, let alone an angle grinder...
Title: Re: Tail Chop Poll Post by: Chchadder on March 30, 2009, 04:33:21 PM I'd do it myself if I had it to do over again. I was still pretty new to working on bikes when I did mine a few years back. Ducati took care of that though...

Title: Re: Tail Chop Poll Post by: amcloud on March 30, 2009, 05:18:42 PM I believe the 696/1100 is slightly more involved than the older monsters, due to the pan and the lock position, but I might take a ride up to a friends welding shop I worked at in highschool and college and fab one up. Ill post pics if I go that route. Finding time is the problem.
Title: Re: Tail Chop Poll Post by: DucatiTorrey on March 30, 2009, 05:19:08 PM ha ha nice! with my garage i could have made one out of wood. not sure how that would have looked.
Title: Re: Tail Chop Poll Post by: 1313 on March 30, 2009, 07:08:13 PM I have the CW kit but if I could do it all over again I would have gone with the Tidy Tail. It looks like a better kit all around. The CW kit is just bent sheet metal and the lighting sucks. lol yes, I'm law abiding.
Title: Re: Tail Chop Poll Post by: DucatiTorrey on March 31, 2009, 02:17:11 AM thats true, but, i like the forward plate position of the CW kit and i made my own lighting. the tailtidy does look nice for an under the light position though

(http://img2.werkenntwen.de/photo7/a38ff76503bbbd1b3ce6a1ac2b21feb4/6/f/6fo8ailuz6xyek9rgctzqivrzxj.jpg) R&G with my new exhausts. i've tried the CW. didn't like it. got the R&G love it. I did get stopped by the german cops one night. said the angle was too much. said that is how it is, it didn't change it [roll] but the CW in the lower position... i would have had a ticket and even in the upper position the lighting would have gotten me a ticket. Title: Re: Tail Chop Poll Post by: mrplease on March 31, 2009, 06:25:11 AM i think the cw kit looks the cleanest...

Title: Re: Tail Chop Poll Post by: powrtrippin on April 02, 2009, 03:28:27 AM I have the CW kit. The instructions were ridiculous at best but once I figured it out it looks great. Wanted to smash my head into a wall reading the directions, though. [bang]
Title: Re: Tail Chop Poll Post by: DucatiTorrey on April 02, 2009, 03:43:01 AM i do agree the directions were bad, but it was easy enough to figure out on my own (after taking it off and putting it on maybe 5 or 6 times)
i think the hardest part was taking the stock one off |
