Apparently American Navy scientist have figured out cold fusion, or a previously unheard of nuclear reaction.

I'm excited after reading the article, but perhaps it hasn't been plastered all over because so far, it's not been verified as cold fusion. Therefore, they're not wanting to repeat the same mistake made by those other two dudes 20 years ago.
But I agree...this is VERY promising!
i am clueless about this...and while i am an enthusiast regarding any kind of science/technology...
i am also a skeptic by nature

I guess so, but it is still a breakthrough in Nuclear power,
and it has already been verified by another lb in Japan.

Even more exciting!! ;D
I has always assumed cold fusion was the term used best to describe my first marriage
I had no idea it was something scientific.
This isn't being plastered because the average schmuck knows jack shit about jack shit. They can't tell you why a plane takes off.
Cold Fusion would just be something boring to sit through until they aired the weather and the latest news about britney spears.

Nothing's blown up, no carnage, no mayhem, no rioting.
And, they haven't been disproved and laughed out of the business.

No shit. Sometimes, I get really disappointed in society, and then I remember that It is my own damn fault for hoping that there is something more than a collective mental vacuum.

OMG She is totally trying to look like Angelina OMG
make the beast with two backstards.
Cold fusion has been claimed to have been found about 4 times in since I first heard of it and every time it turned out to be bogus.
Plus, the general American couch potato thinks cold fusion is either the name of the next WWE event in Anchorage, or a sandwich at Subway.

She's hot again. Still stupid, but you can hope to be the next K-fed.
In other news, it'll be raining in Oregon, tonight, tomorrow, and everyday
forever. People live on the mountains to avoid drowning in a flash flood of overpriced coffee heading south from Washington State.
Back to you, Chet!
SWEET
when do I get my Mr. Fusion powered Delorean?
8)
that's great and all, but how do we harness this limitless source of power?
is it just going to be used to boil water and then use the steam to turn turbines?
i do hope that something comes from this though. i want a mr fusion in my backyard that i can dump trash into.
I thought cold fusion didn't produce the heat required to boil water for steam turbines? That's why we have thermo nuclear power...

I always thought it was supposed to be a closed circuit fuel cell so to speak.
I saw it in the news several weeks ago. Like others have said, it will probably be denounced like other CF discoveries of the last decade.
If it was real, someone would have to stop it anyway - it would ruin the global economy.

Not if people aren't paying for energy. It would decrease the amount people are paying out of pocket for utilities freeing up money to buy other shit...

I see it affecting a lot of industries, granted not all at once, but a lot of big people have an interest in keeping power as is. Coal mining, natural gas, automotive fuels, solar, wind, utility companies, energy traders, etc etc.
