(http://7mzdt.com/images/r6bar.jpg) side note: the R6 tank slider officially works =) Title: Re: A conversation with derby Post by: derby on March 31, 2009, 08:20:13 AM side note: the R6 tank slider officially works =) yeah, i noticed that... pretty impressive. Title: Re: A conversation with derby Post by: gm2 on March 31, 2009, 08:21:55 AM good thing too. full tank.
Title: Re: A conversation with derby Post by: derby on March 31, 2009, 08:52:40 AM good thing too. full tank. ...minus whatever it took to get all the way to turn 3. ;D Title: Re: A conversation with derby Post by: Spidey on March 31, 2009, 09:33:30 AM side note: the R6 tank slider officially works =) That's great. Those tanks are scary when they crack open and leak gas. Nothing like the fear of a flaming/exploding bike to keep you from getting aggressive in the turns. Title: Re: A conversation with derby Post by: EvilSteve on March 31, 2009, 09:35:32 AM It blows my mind that Yamaha haven't fixed that yet.
Title: Re: A conversation with derby Post by: gm2 on March 31, 2009, 09:36:53 AM i bet the 2010 R6 will have many changes... big bang and that, among them
Title: Re: A conversation with derby Post by: EvilSteve on March 31, 2009, 09:38:30 AM They re-did the bike for 08/09 & didn't fix the tank thing though. They claimed it was all new even though it looked the same... wait... ???
Does big bang make sense for a 600 though? Title: Re: A conversation with derby Post by: gm2 on March 31, 2009, 09:42:35 AM is it accurate to say they re-did it? iterative fixes/updates. not like the '05-'06 transition.
big bang, why not? Title: Re: A conversation with derby Post by: EvilSteve on March 31, 2009, 12:44:03 PM I thought their marketing copy said it was a totally new bike but just kind of looked the same. ???
I thought (perhaps wrongly) that the point of big bang over screamer was traction. Traction on liter bikes due to power is much more of a problem and therefore the trade offs worth it, not sure if that's the case with 600s. They're using traction control in WSS now though apparently. Title: Re: A conversation with derby Post by: gm2 on March 31, 2009, 12:49:04 PM traction, yes, but also as-or-more importantly, mid-range. it theoretically gives the I4 workable grunt and mid-range without sacrificing the top end power. i can tell you first hand the R6 has no mid-range...
